Piston slap is more common with the squirters in use with aftermarket pistons then without.... Piston slap is going to take away from the life of you daily driven engine.

Just a note. Didnt see it covered. Cooling an aftermarket piston would leave a longer window open for piston slap... right?

Such a heated debate )
After better than 30 years of building ICE's (internal combustion engines) it is my opinion that piston oilers are not necessary, yet desirable. The purpose is to cool the piston, not lubrication. The piston would not get lubrication from the internal surface. Splash from the crankcase and bleed off from the wrist pins are what gives lubrication to the piston. Likewise the wrist pin is lubricated by an internal passage in the connecting rod. I came to this thread because I too am building a GSR w/LS crank and would like to keep the oilers for the purpose of cooling the piston whether it is needed or not. I desire to do so. I have read more argument than discussion here. Now if there are any that have input on how to achieve this it is welcome. I do not desire argument or to be told "just plug it". Positive input, or "I tried it, this is what I did and it worked/didn't work" is what is sought here. Thanks for any positive input.

I have gone about this 2 ways, both w/o issue. First time I shaved the tips about 1mm for clearance, the other time I removed them and pressed ball bearings into the ports. Removing will give you more pressure and flow everywhere else

I know its not an answer you wanted but just wanted to let you guys know I ran a GSR block with LS crank and eagle LS rods with JE GSR pistons and they cleared the oil squirters. In case anyone wanted to know if JE clear with LS stroke.

Let me put it this way... the 2JZGTE has oil squirters. People don't block those off. I'd personally keep them and if oil pressure is a problem, upgrade the pump or check clearances.
