Default Oil pan gasket, hard as rock!

I dropped the oil pan today to tap the oil pan for a turbo drain and the old gasket is ON the pan... It will not come off I've been chiseling away at it piece by piece... Does any one know of a good way of getting the old gasket off? I tried spraying it with brake cleaner and letting it sit but it hasn't done much good, can I use a torch and burn it off?

scrub scrub and scrub some more... oil pans suck unless you have a hot tank.

you could use a wire wheel but make sure that you spray paint the edges when you're done to keep it from rusting.

Make sure to check that the pan is flat around the sealing surface before you reinstall it. We have seen many oil pans warp and cause leaks.

Torching is probably not a good idea, you may warp the pan.

As mentioned, a gasket scraper is what you need... http://www.bettymills.com/shop/produ...899&OVNDID=ND1 a wire wheel for a drill will help get the last of it... http://www.makita.com/en-us/Assets/I...brushes/4L.jpg

Also as mentioned, repaint. 94
