Obd2 car with OBD1 jumper harness do i need crank sensor????
ok i got a 98 GSR (obd2) and i did the convo to Obd1 and just was wondering
do i need to run the crank sensor. i am getting code 15. i have did a LSvtec swap in it and idle is all up and down and can get it to keep running stalls out. now i didnt
put the crank sensor back in because obd1 doesnt need it.
i am running obd2 harness and distributer too.

Code 15 is the ignition output signal. Not the same thing as the CKF.
Your OBD-1 ECU probably is not capable of throwing a code for the CKF, since there wasn't a CKF in OBD-1.

CKF is not used on the OBD1 ecu setup. You don't need it. Code 15 is not the CKF as stated above. Is the distributor known good?

as far as i know the distributors are different.
i was told i do need crank sensor. i was thinking in obd 1 that there is a sensor in the distributor and not on crank and thats why it sint needed.

The OBD2 distributor still uses the crank position sensor (CKP) and that is why the OBD2 distributor is still compatible with the OBD1 ecu. i dont remember who made it but it was someone who sells them.
if someone whos got obd2 car with obd1 jumper harness can they unplug there crank sensor and see for me..

Code 15 is the ignition output signal. It's not related to the CKP, CYP, or TDC sensors in the distributor. If it was any of those sensors, there's different codes for them.
4 = CKP sensor
8 = TDC sensor
9 = CYP sensor
The ignition output signal is the circuit that the ECU uses to tell the ignitor to fire the coil.

well the only thing we have changed this year from last. is the i didnt plug in the sensor for the secondary for the butterflys and the knock sensor is disabled and that crank sensor.
well i check the distributor and its all hooked up right. i just got no clue what else it could be
so thats why i am going to try crank.
what do u guys think it might be???
anybody try to unplug there obd2 car with obd1 harness swap and see what it might do?

Ignitors can go bad, wires can develop corrosion & bad connections, regardless of what you change from last year.
Code 15 points to the ignition otuput signal.
Check the trigger circuit from the ECU to the ignitor, then check for a bad ignitor.

You mean unplug the CKF sensor on an OBDII motor while it's being run by an OBD1 ECU?
Nothing happens. The OBD1 ECU doesn't have an input to accept the CKF signal.

14 = IACV
36 = ???
I think I read something about code 36 just a couple days ago. Something that doesn't exist on USDM cars. I don't remember the details, but I bet you could find the thread.
So... It's not a USA ECU, huh? There's a few other differences with non-USA ECUs.

ok i am running the AEBS intake mani and i got it off a guy who was running obdo maybe 1 would the sensors be different. the iacv not working maybe needs to be cleaned.
does anyone think these sensors could cause motor to run as bad as it does???

NON-USDM, but that leaves -um- everywhere else...
It also leaves me out, since I've only had USDM OBD-1 P72 so I probably can't help much more.

how would i be able to convert crank sensor over to a obd1 motor to be able to install engine back in and run off obd2 system (harness, ecu)?
