Lost injector pulse Please help
I am helping a friend who bought a 92-95 hatch with a B16 vtec turbo from a tow yard. The previous owner was in the process of swapping the head gasket when it was towed away. Upon inspection we found that it had stock dome pistons so the turbo came off. We replace the head gasket and fired it up. It ran a couple of times to check for leaks and then died. We have spark and fuel pressure but no injector pulse. It has a p28 ecm and I believe the crank sensor has been bypassed. The harness looks like a rats nest at the ecm so I believe it could use some solder and some heat shrink attention. My buddy did some research and it said that something in the distributor could be affecting the injector pulse. I also read that I should check both sides of the injector plug and figure out what side it not firing. What should this tell me? Any help would be appreciated. Thx!!!

Use a test light. It will tell you wish side of the injector is failed. First connect the test light to the bat ground and disconnect all your injector plugs. Place it on the 12v side of the injector harness and make sure they all have power.
To test the ground side or triger side of the harness connect the test light to the pos side of the bat. Place it on the ground side of the injector clip. Have someone crank the engne and if the test light flashes the ground side to the ecu is good. Your fault will be on one of these sides so you know where to look.

Oh sorry forgot to awnser your other question your dizzy has a cam shaft position sensor in it which controls the injector pulse. So. Would also check the dizzy and make sure it is fine. Pop off the cap and make sure no screws have come loose and fallen onto any of the sensor magnets. I've seen that a few times.

"We have spark and fuel pressure but no injector pulse" I would first look at the PGM-FI Main Relay, starting with the fuel injector relays output, specifically it's input to the ECU/ECM, [IGP1 and IGP2] "The harness looks like a rats nest at the ecm" no power at IGP1&2 = no ground pulse for injectors from the ECU/ECM. 94

Re: Lost injector pulse Please help
i know this sounds crazy... but here goes...
i had the same problem...
my car ran fine... then died on me one day and wouldnt start again. also there was no code!
i checked everything! i had fuel pressure, spark, compression, timing was right.. but for some reason just would not start. finaly i did some research and found that the "coolant temp censor" helped time the injector pulses. i swaped out the coolant temp censor started up first crank and has worked ever since.
this is also with a B18a1... but i would assume if it uses it for the b18 why not the b16
its worth a try and i think the part it self was like $35 and took 5 mins to replace
(coolant temp censor on the B18 is located just underneith the dizzy dunno if its the same on the b16)

Re: Lost injector pulse Please help
First off thx for all the help. I had a chance to drop by and do another check and I'm getting a signal on the ground side so does this mean the ecm is sending the correct signal? The positive side has nothing. I will have him swap the coolant sensor out tomorrow. It would be nice if it's that easy. It shouldn't be hard finding a coolant sensor because the car is at a his tow yard. Does this sensor vary from different models? On another note....I'm finally installing my B18c ITR motor into my 95 tegra tomorrow. I just got my tranny back from the shop(phantom grip installed). Hopefully going to dyno on Monday to get my hondata tuned. Can't wait for race season to start!!!! Again thanks for all the help!
