J-Series Engine idling for extended periods. Question
I just purchased 2007 Honda Odyssey EXL that has a J series (J35A7) engine. It's in really good condition, it was a one owner, and has all its service records. About 20,000 miles ago the 100,000 mile service was done including timing belt, etc...
I live in Central Florida where it gets stupid hot for most of the year. I do construction work so I spend a lot of time in my car during my lunch breaks, etc, with the engine idling with the air conditioning on... I also spend quite a bit of time otherwise in my vehicle with it idling in order to have the AC Running.
Now I know that running a lower temperature thermostat in a vehicle is normally not a good thing to do due to multiple reasons including oil temperature, efficiency, etc...
But I'm curious if it may be a good idea in my case since I leave it idling for long periods of time, in direct sunlight with an average air temperature of 95° + in the summer... FOR ANYONE THAT'S NEVER BEEN TO FLORIDA, VECHILES WILL EASILY GET HOT ENOUGH
