GSR idling and stalling problems.
All right, to start, I've read just about every bad idle thread on this board and nothing is really helping me out. Here it goes...
I have a 99 Civic with a 00 B18C1 engine. The car has 150k and the engine has 30k.
1) For the first 6 months after the swap, about once every 2 or 3 weeks, I would go to hit the gas and the car would almost stall like fuel wasnt being delivered.
2) Last week I was idling at 800rpm (normal) and then it started to idle at 2 grand along with my CEL coming on. So I turned the car off and turned it back on. This cleared the code and fixed whatever the problem was.
3) Today I go to drive it and it stalls out twice on me, while I was idling. It was struggling like it was trying to say alive.
- The spark plugs and wires both have about 4k on them.
- The IACV is brand new, so its not carbon build up.
- I've done several fuel induction services since I swapped the motor. (BG intake cleaner and BG fuel injector cleaner)
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: GSR idling and stalling problems. (TIRENECK)
Well, the thing is that, like I said, the engine only has 30k on it, and thats a little soon for the distributor to go bad. And I also did the timing belt and timed it 5k ago, when I did the swap.

does your idle stay low every time it is idling or does it just do it every once in a while?

For the most part, the idle stays at 800 but then once I've been driving for awhile, every time I push in the clutch and idle, it starts to struggle and then it stalls.
Thanks for you help guys. I'm going to make sure the fuel filter isnt getting clogged today.

Re: GSR idling and stalling problems. (msmotorsports)
Everything on my car is stock. Its just an 01 GSR engine in a 99 Civic hatch.
I'm taking it to P1 Automotive Inc. in the morning to see if they can figure out what's going on. (And to dyno & 1/4 mile it!!!!)

haha..its not needed? you should be doing a valve adjustement every 15,000 miles. you should have done two already. im just saying that if your motor bogs down and stalls all the time, it could very well be your valves.
just do a valve adjustment like you should have already.

Re: GSR idling and stalling problems. (anothersickhatch)
Its every 30k and in a VTEC engine, the chance of a valve being out of allignment is VERY rare. So that will be a last resort. Thanks though.

it looks like a valve adjustment wouldnt hurt...suite yourself.
im not saying that is what it is, but my motor had the same problem and my exhaust valves were too tight.

...and he's just gonna throw money away for a solution that MIGHT fix the problem. Highly doubt it's that nayways.
Just check the fuel system, make sure everything is functioning as it should.
