Default Gas tank fix, and other stuff..

Hey I have a gas leak on my 94 teg. An since the tank is plastic, i was wondering what have you guys used that lasted long.. Soldering is out of the picture unless if a friend has one. Im looking for a quick fix wanted to know what some good options were other than buying a new tank or soldering.

On a major budget considering i just changed the timing belt and did brakes and rotors all around. So my question is what the hell to buy that would last a good while for the tank.. An can plug it while its still hooked up ... Gorilla Glue? Just replaced plugs and wires as well as the fuel filter. The gas tank has a very little leak but its on the driver side rear corner of the tank which is rather a buzzkill to say the least. Im kinda burnt out on working on her for the month .

Replace the tank, any other repair puts yourself and other motorists at risk to say the least.

If your tank has rotted away, consider other corrosion related damage on the vehicle before replacing the tank. If your frame is excessively corroded, in the interest of driving, junk it and find another.

I personally hate it when I tell people to junk their car, and they go ahead and replace $1000 worth of crap, only to have the rear brake lines rot out, or power steering fail, or something else.

Plastic tanks tend to crack. FYI An Im doing all the repairs to make it in tip top shape. as i said its a very small leak. I looked the car over from head to toe when purchased. Maybe you should stop trolling HT, I really hate when i have to tell people this. Im sure your 91 civic is a death trap then considering i never seen it.

Sounds better than recurring car payments and higher insurance rates. And in the end he'll have a totally restored car. It's not your place to tell someone whether something is worth fixing or not.

BTW, I didn't know these gas tanks were plastic.

I don't doubt that it is. I just never had to mess with mine so I don't know.

I agree to a point, but sometimes a cigar is just a cigar..... And it is my place to tell, as I have my own experience to speak from. I am personally tired of telling people to junk a car or sell it. They put 500-1000 into it, and then something else breaks. Do you want to be on the receiving end of that? Tell it like it is.

Know what you're getting into and what they can live with. If that's what they want to do then that really has no factor in whether or not they should fix a problem with a car that they own. In this case, you don't know what condition the car is actually in to recommend it being junked.

This is the internet not jiffy lube, there's not a pit you can go under and inspect everyones vehicle. So your just making yourself look.. like a douche.

personally i rather restore something and take pride then to buy new off the lot. My car is in great condition just not the tank. Why you would badger at my car is beyond me. maybe your jealous, thats about all I can think of. When you want to race your 91 civic let me know. till then keep your comments to yourself.

Replace the tank. There is no permanent repair solution for plastic tanks(that I an aware of.) Until then I personally wouldn't drive it until it was fixed right.

Temporary solutions have a way of coming undone at the most inconvenient times....

When you do all your own work obviously that makes it considerably cheaper. It just depends really on how much you need to replace.

Car is running good stopping good. Its quick. handles excellent. frames in great shape brake lines. etc. Im very happy with my teg. id replace it all if i had the budget and work on the motor, but this is just my daily. I've got other plans im saving up for now. Maybe in the future. We'll see.

Thanks for the help guys the tank will be replaced asap. Just a really small leak is all, at least i caught it before something bad happens.
