Default Fiberglass hood has water in it!!! wtf

Fiberglass hood has water in it!!! My fiberglass hood has a scoop that I had to cut out. Could the water be coming in because of the cut out? I don't know much about fiberglass body parts, so any help is appreciated.

so the water is where exactly? Is it inside the fiberglass itself? If so it seems to be a very poor quality product as they didnt use enough resin and the inside is thus still more fiber than fiberglass. if this is the case then the cuts you made would give the water a way in, yes. not really any easy way to get the water out unless you have an oven the size of your hood

Same question, where exactly is the water?

If it is "inside" it may or may not mean poor quality work, just poor quality modification by you, to keep fiberglass products light, "foam", [and other products] are used as cores, "sandwiched" between two thin layers of fiberglass.

Cutting into those layers and not "sealing", [fiber-glassing] the cut edges will allow water to get "into" the fiberglass.

As mentioned, getting it out will not be easy, but "baking" it in the sun should work, it may take a few days, [constant flipping and turning] keeping cut at the low point, [gravity is your friend] should get all the moisture out, once out, seal the cut edges using fiberglass resin. 94
