Engine crankshaft kit FROM Advance Auto parts?????????????

Re: Engine crankshaft kit FROM Advance Auto parts????????????? (punkracer)
I'm sure no one has replied as its not really worth their time but I'm bored so I'll say it.
I see you are pimping a shop in your sig. From your screenname and the e-mail address listed it seems like its your "shop" If this is the case, close your doors. If you have to ask this question and you own a shop I feel sorry for the people that have come to you for work that you have "guessed" at how to do. Do everyone a favor and take a auto class or two then come back and open your shop.
If its not your shop and you are pimping for someone else because you think they diserve it......why not ask them? They should know, if they don't.....see above.

He didn't say you were a pimp shop... he said you were pimping a shop/ your shop, as in trying to drum up business.

Considering the fact that he's in the middle of a staged turbo setup that'll make about 90 PSI and more torque than you'd be able to comprehend, I'm not sure a head gasket job will make his head spin.

I think the right is in the fact that he has way more experience than you. I know him personally, and I can assure you that he's done way more work than you can think of in the past seven years... considering he doesn't even do it on the side; it's just his hobby.

Good for you. No really, I sincerely mean that. In that regard, you're better than me. However, as an ASE master tech with around ten years experience, I can tell you that book smart doesn't make a good tech. Once you graduate, you'll be good at teaching what you know and telling others how to do it, but your hands on experience will lack. You'll break things and work slow, but that's OK. It's part of the learning curve that only time can flatten out.

Let's see... he's been doing this **** for seven years... I've been doing it for ten professionally (more like 15 total), and you've been doing it... two months? OK. Reality check time. YOU are the noob. YOU openly state that you have what ammounts to zero experience, and haven't even gotten your AS yet... and you want someone to pay you $500 to do a swap, or you expect them to trust you with a tranny/ engine rebuild? No ******* way, pal. I haven't seen your work or know you beyond your impressive typing skills and broad vernacular, but based on that, I'd say I'd rather have Travis (whiteturbohatch) do the work. If you're really on the deans list, how come your typing, grammatical skills and general immature reaction to Travis's post suggests otherwise? See here, kid... you're not the be all end all in automotive knowledge or wrench- turning skill. I highly suggest you sit your *** down and shut the **** up; humility will get you further in the automotive industry than a swagger and a loud mouth. When you get out into the real world, you'll be working next to guys that have been fixing cars longer than you've been alive, so don't ever EVER think for a second that you have anything to prove to them... to me... or to anyone else.

Re: Engine crankshaft kit FROM Advance Auto parts????????????? (Loco Honkey)
Thanks Loco...I wasn't going to waste more breath on him, but hey you've got the mAd vtacK! skrills to learn him a thing or two.
Oh and to add one more thing to the list since I don't know anything.....I wonder how in the world my daily driven tubo z6 got tuned well enough to not meltdown running 15psi on stock everything except for ecu. Yes that includes injectors too. I cuoldnt have done that because I know what I'm doing, nope it must have been n00B luck.

Apology accepted. Good luck with the remainder of your schooling. And a job tip: If you want to starve, work on imports, but if you want to eat steak every night, work on domestics. I highly suggest a GM dealership. Top notch training, top notch manuals (like the Mitchell, but waaaaaaay better), and never a slow day.

They're right, but Fords will put years on you. I swear to christ that Ford doesn't pay its engineers with money, but with bags of crack. Friday afternoon, instead of a paycheck, they hand 'em a bag of crack, a syringe, a spoon, and a lighter, and tell them that it needs to be all gone by Monday.
