Default doing a tear down of b20/vtec....

This next week we are going to tear down my friends b20/vtec and replace the rings on his #1 cylinder piston, his compression was 120-180-180-180

I have a few questions i have searched and searched, but i'm STILL a little unsure...

A...Keep the same head gasket - just remove the middle layer, bump up the compression a touch, then re-torque the head down 1 more ft pound than it was( he has ARP head studs)

B...Should we get the head milled .020", or .030" Chad on this board has B20Z, .020" mill, Toda B's, no problem. My friend has a stock b20B bottom end, and right now the head was surfaced .003 taken off the head, just to get a clean surface, so should we stick with .020, or risk it with .030, he has cam gears to get the cams back to stock settings.

And does anybody have any helpful ideas on changin rings?, we know how to do it, just want to be sure. any advice will be greatly appreciated

TIA

according to c-speed, hes sittin at about 9.0 compression right now, if we mill the head .030, and take out 1 layer of the head gasket, assuming each layer is .010(a stock gasket is .29) but just playing with numbers - this would yield a 9.9 compression ratio, what kind of power gains do u think can be had from picking up 1 point in compression on a b20/vtec

he had stock cams/stock block, lots of bolt-ons
