plugs can give more power but it really depends on the state of the old plugs and such. if you have a old plug that is worn or broken then a new plug no matter what will restore power, however if your current plugs are not bad then a new plug even if it is iridium or platinum will not make a monstrous power gain. if anything the plug life will be longer cause of the better material but this is where you have to do the math to compare what basic NGK's cost versus the new plugs. I like NGK but I have using a bosch plug right now that is platinum but was cheap and they seem to be working well. gas mileage is good on my car given I have all the other stuff in tune. the bosch # is a 4227, which are the same as the import review ones. they are cheap compared to NGK platiinums

All things being equal, one brand/kind of spark plug won't give you that much more power than another, if at all. Once the plug has given off the right amount of spark to ignite the fuel/air mixture, it has pretty much done its job. What plugs with thinner but longer-wearing (and more expensive) metal can offer you is a MORE CONSISTENT AND SURE SPARK EVERYTIME and longer plug life. I've gone from stock plugs to bosch to splitfire to denso iridiums now. Same same.

Of course, if you're coming from old, worn out, dirty plugs, putting in new ones will always have you saying "wow, I got more power!" To really do an honest comparison, switch from one brand new set to the next. Then see for yourself.
