clutch pedal sinks to the floor...but works when pulled back out
what's up i just installed a Exedy organic clutch with a Act streetlite flywheel....It worked great for the first couple hundred miles, but then it started acting crazy...if i push the clutch pedal in fast it feels like it has pressure, and will disengage the clutch, but if i push it in slow it will sink all the way to the floor. i replaced the slave cylinder hoping it would fix it, also bled more than half of one of those big bottles of brake fluid through it. also the clutch m/c was recently replaced. i don't know what to do...
my theories
i'm thinking it might have somehting to do with the release fork/release bearing. That's the only part i wasn't really meticulous about. maybe the spring on the back of the fork??
any help would be great, please don't tell me i have to pull the tranny off again

wow...it's funny how at a car forum a religious debate moves 10 times faster than a technical question in the tech section.

have you checked your pedal adjustment
or maybe you have a defective clutch m/s
and yeah i agree
it is wierd how something soo off topic could move faster than
a real tech question

yeah that was me...that's when it first started acting up....i don't really know how to check the pedal adjustment, is that something that has to be adjusted when you replace the clutch?....the m/c was supposedly replaced about 1000 miles ago, the shop told me they did....and it's a reputable shop

i wish you were closer i would come over and help you fix it
it has to be something simple
i have a parts hatch that i can get some stuff from if you really need it
that hatch that was behind the shop sitting on the ground is mine
so i have basically everything you would need to fix it

run a test, have someone stand in front of your car and check the cylinder to see if it depresses all the way out when you push the pedal hard and also when you push the pedal slow, if it goes out all the way when fast then thats good, if it doesnt move at all when you do it slow then your clutch cylinder is bad or leaky then you know its not the clutch and you dont have to pull the tranny.

I had the same problem with my first 300zx, it would kinda suck the pedal to the floor if you just gently pressed on it. I got usto it and it never happened as long as i pressed quick enough and dident rest my foot on the pedal. But whenever i let a friend drive the car it would happen to them.
Its definitely somthing to do with the hydraulics, possibly a defective MC or SC, try bleeding it again and make sure you use all the bleed points if it has more than one.

the slave and the master cylinders are both new....i already bled the junk out of it....i think it might be the spring behind the release fork...i might not have hooked it up right....i know it seems like a hydraulic problem, but i don't see how it could be with all new components....i'm gonna go by the shop that put in my m/c and see what they think...they're pretty dang good....thanks....TTT

update.....
now when i press the clutch pedal in it doesn't disegage the clutch at all. I can hear a squishing that seems to be coming from where the rod-thing goes thru the firewall to the m/c....since the m/c, and s/c are new i think it must be a seal...it definitely seems like a fliud related problem...it's like when you compress a hypodermic needle....like the little rubber part is broken, and letting fluid past, so not enough pressure is building up. The M/C is full.....no fluid is leaking at all.

did you check inside the car for leaks, it could be the piston in the mc or slave

I inspected the line from the M/C to the S/C, and it's fine, it's not leaking any fluid at all....i think it may be something between the clutch pedal and the M/C although both look fine....i'm gonna pull the M/C and clutch pedal off before i pull the tranny.

UPDATE:
upon further investigation....well actually i'm just stupid...i didn't really inspect the M/C....just the resevoir......yeah, well today i had my roommate push in the clutch pedal, and i watched the S/C to see if it would push in the release fork, and it won't push it in, it only can move it a cm....so either it's a fluid problem(M/C), or the release fork is seriously jammed.
