Car died while driving back last nite....
everything was fine just driving back from a show and then on the highway PuFF!! car died tried to down shift for power but nothing.
I pulled over and the car will fire up but then right away dies....
What do u guys think I should try checking without buying another motor please.
I have checked the 3 main rules of a normal start up (Spark, Fuel, and Timing) all seem to be in check
Could it be the ignitor???? As it is common in OBD1 and OBD2 to be the cause of this?
Please Help

You're saying you are getting spark? It sounds like an ignitor or coil, but if it's sparking, maybe not. Could have jumped a tooth on the timing belt.

Yeah I check this theory about the tooth and it is on the mark
I have a external coil also I doubt but I guess I am in need of a dizzy to find out this theory also huh>???
Anyone else before I go in search of one......

Pull off cap and rotor. Check the 3 wires that go to the ignitor for voltage with the key ON but the car not running. If there is voltage to all 3, and none of the wires were loose causing a bad connection, than the ignitor is bad and it needs to be replaced.

Re: (LsVtec92Hatch)
has a good ignitor all wires had power
I guess I am glad next though I have two new questions??
Would low oil level cause this also??
and well it fired up for like a two seconds and died, What can that mean?

no, low oil would not cause that.
If it fired up for 2 seconds and dies, its probably fuel. Can you hear your fuel pump prime when you turn the key into the On position?

Yes fuel delivery could do that because if its pumping erraticly it would fire erratcicly. You also have some fuel left in the lines, rail, injectors when you first start the vehicle. Seeing as how you have a steady 43psi of fuel pressure, it doesnt sound like fuel is your problem. If you start the car and stand on the gas will it still die or will it rev?

Re: (baddog)
here are the problems that I have personally found to cause this
loose connections at fuel pump
bad ecu
and bad fuel filter
you will be amazed at how many people overlook the fuel filter

ecu is a p28 w/s200 hondata system (new)
the fuel pump well I will check but I can hear it and see the fuel pressure on gauge
the fuel filter is a new AEM fuel filter I will check it out though
any one else has Ideas to look to

alternator is NOT going to cause the car to die,
UNLESS your battery is COMPLETELY DRAINED.
even if you completely removed the alternator, the car would run fine until it drained the battery completely.
i'm thinking distributor, have you tried swapping in a good-known dizzy?

Re: (Tad)
well I have a volt meter on the battery and it read 13.?? when the car was running and before the crank up or starting before it would read 12.78 or 12.67 sometimes
so this might rule out the alternator theory right??
I am thinking u guys might be right about the dizzy but the ignitor checks out voltage there. I got spark
Timing is dead on
I am thinking maybe fuel or something
any ideas guys need to get it running asap show this weekend

Re: (krazie1)
with the car running the batt should read 13-14v
any less and that means the alt isnt charging it right.
but yeh with it off it'll be in the 12's.. it isa 12volt battery afterall
and you say it starts then dies right? that means you're getting fuel.
do you have any CEL?
