Is it possible to run straight ethanol gas in a 99 GSR or any Honda?
I was just wondering if it was possible to run ethanol in a 99 GSR or any other Honda? It's a lot cheaper than gasonline, cleaner and has a higher octane rating so you would have a more efficient running car. But, I wasn't going to put it in my daily driver if it would mess it up. Just looking for a little help on this subject.

That's not exactly the answer I was looking for. Please if you have any real reason why not I would like to know.

I believe you'll have problems with ethanol attacking some of the plastic & rubber components of your fuel system. Fuel pump seals, hoses, O-rings, injectors, FPR, even your fuel gauge sender. So much stuff to remove & replace with a different material...

As JimBlake said, ethanol is corrosive. Your aluminum intake manifold and cylinder head especially won't like prolonged contact with the liquid.
The stoichiometry of ethanol to air requires much more ethanol (volumetrically) than gasoline for the gasoline/air mixture. You would tend to run lean unless you tune your computer for it. You would probably need larger injectors to compensate.

it's like asking should i drink heineken or natural light, natural is cheaper and has the same effects except its made out of crap, but heineken tastes so much better and is made from the good stuff. so why make your car drink crap?

i beleive it's methanol that is corrosive and ethanol is non corrosive. ethanol is also an alcohol, the same that you get drunk off of. stoich is somewhere around 6:1 or somewhere close to that. you would actually have to run at least twice as much. here in pa it is sold by the half gallon which is very conceiving cause it sounds cheaper but it isn't. $2.20 per half gallon. to be legal they smix it with 2% gasoline so it is not used incorrectly by some like alcoholics and what not.
