Default b16a head on b20a "the frankinstien"

hey i brought a b20a block and i was reading the honda building book and you can bolt a b16a head on the b20a block with ease on problems and make it vtec aswell just by hooking up oil line from oil pressure sensor on back of block.and a ecu
but does this work on the b20a gold top. or the b20a black top????
your help is much appreciated

you bought a B20A? you might as well use it as a boat anchor.....those B20A's found in the older 2.0 preludes are useless. you can rev them over 6500rpm without blowing them up.

the B20 you NEED is from the 98+ Honda CR-V. engine codes B20B or B20Z. if properly built they can take 8500rpm or maybe even more.

oh and i have no idea what your referring to about gold or black tops? what are those supposed to mean?

Second that. You have to use a B20B or a B20Z, the B20A is about as usefull for high performance as a HF engine is.

b20a the 2 litre dohc motor
whats wrong with that???
have you not seen the browny/gold top motor in the 86model preludes and the black top rocket cover in the later model preludes
i was going to rebuild b20a with forged pistons etc.. for when my turbocharged 1600 ZC dohc motor blows up.

a b20a is a shorter block. some1 figure out bore and stroke on it and deck height too while ur at it.

Back in the day people would use those cranks in ls blocks
My friend had one (81x95 ls motor in a coupe). It had crazy mid range but nothing above 7grand.
Probly would have made for a pretty good tow vehicle though......lol

Did it bolt right up to the ls rods? I really want to do the exact opposite lol but i don't want to buy new rods.

BTW was that crank from a 88-91 prelude or a pre 87 or older.

Also all 3rd gen motors are black valve covers and the single cammers i think had gold tops but these motors are completely different from the black tops.

you use the ls block, b20a crank and b16a rods
