Default fuel in oil.....

there is fuel in my oil, from my car being so flooded out lately and not starting....

it looks alot thinner and smells like gas even.

steps ive heard......
1.disable ignitoin <pull my plug wire from my MSD blaster to my distributor>
2.disable fuel <pull fuel pump fuse>
3.pull spark plugs
4.crank engine <few times to get fuel line empty>
5. oil cylinders <about 1/2 ounce of oil down each cylinder>
6.crank engine
7.oil cylinders again
8.crank engine
9.put in new plugs
10.reinstall fuel pump fuse and ingition wire
11.change oil
12.start

is this about right?

Steps for what??? Sounds like blow-by. Do a compression check. If the rings are bad then there is nothing to keep the fuel from passing the pistons into your crank case

There is no way to get the two fluids to separate by disabling your ignition/fuel pump and pouring oil into your cylinders. Whoever gave you those instructions is not your friend.

The only way to get fuel out of your oil is to change the oil. But then if you don't fix the reason that it was in the first place it will happen again.

Do a compression check. I can't think of any other way fuel would get into your oil. Unless someone opened you oil cap and poured gas in there.

But an oil change is inevitable. And if you want to clean it up as much as possible I would drop the oil pan and clean it out by hand.

just by looking at the directions i was given, THEY DO MAKE SENCE.

i got them from a friend of mine who's dad has a repair shop.

the reason to disable the fuel pump is so that MORE gas isnt forced into the engine when your trying to clean it out. pouring a lil bit of oil into each cylinder and then cranking will help try and flush out any gas still left in there.

the car was extremely flooded.

thanks for you concern....but the directions acctually make sence

no, they dont.

find the cause of the problem first, then work towards a solution.

think of how small the area is where the fuel is injected. you have 2 places for fuel and oil to mix, through the rings, or through the valves. now if there is enough fuel in your oil to see the combination, there is a problem.

i suggest a leakdown and compression test. if you dont know how to do that, throw some more money at Tom.

the 4 fluids in an engine are independent. meaning under correct circumstances they dont mix.

dont worry about "flushing" the fluids out of your combustion chamber, as soon as that thing fires up, those fluids will burn off and go out your exhuast.

or... remove the spark plugs completely and crank it over, letting the fuel evaporate into that atmosphere and out your exhaust valves.

no need for oil dump

Thanks b16SuperTuner for confirming my thoughts on the flushing process. But I'm pretty sure an oil change will be necessary once the problem is fixed. I don't think the oil temps get high enough to burn the fuel mixed in it. and if it does there will be a nice fire burning in his crankcase.

Also it wasn't my concern it was my professional opinion. I'm not just talking out of my *** here, I have my degree in Automotive Technology and I'm an ALLDATA Certified Automotive Information Specialist. So when I see those directions your friend whose dad has a shop gave you, none of it made sense

And I'm not concerned with your problem makes no difference to me if it gets fixed or not. I was just trying to give you a little help before you went through a bunch of pointless steps.

Good luck. Hope you get it solved soon

ive heard that with all the extra "fuel" in the chambers, that it will give a false compression reading.

im not an expert on this or anything.

i think the reason it wasnt starting now might have something to do with the ECU peter. a wire was cut when i looked at it...and it was prolly touching bare metal and grounding out.

but just by cranking the engine over and over and more and more fuel getting spilled in with out starting for a month well.....its gotta go somewhere.

it goes out your exhaust valves.

i agree with proper! just take out the spark plug and let the fuel evaporate and do the compression test and lead down test. sounds like your losing seal!

well....im glad i DIDNT listen to you guys....

sorry to say you were quite wrong on this one peter.

the fuel on the cylinder walls removes all the seal arond the rings..... so, just running a compression test on that got me 60psi on all 4.

i followed the directions as above.....

it started right up, with out any hesitation at all. it wasnt starting because it had no compression.
it runs like a champ now.
