cheap d2s worth it?
So I have a read a bunch negative reviews about d2, but more along the lines of they're not worth the money. My question is if I can get a slightly used set for $500 would they be worth it, or should I just spend a little more and get the lauded koni/gc?

Koni/GC all the way.
Although if you are on a bit of a budget, Progress CS-II coilovers are very good for the price (~$600 I think).

I have the Koni/GC setup (350 lbs on all 4) and love it. Ive driven on the setup for probably 8-10k miles now, and I've also used the Koni shocks with stock springs for ~5k miles on and off (sometimes I like to feel like I'm driving a Cadillac lol).
The Koni shocks are just awesome. You can go from stock springs (~200/100) to a mild setup (350/350 for me) and all you have to do is stiffen up the rebound ~1 turn and they feel great.
Also with the GC sleeves, you can adjust your ride height without even taking the wheels off. Just jack up that corner/side of the car, reach in there with your allen key, spin the perch, and tighten it back up. Takes about a minute per corner, maybe less!

Re: cheap d2s worth it?
That sounds ideal. Although I think I'd be better off with 450/350 or 450, since I'm front heavy with a b18. I don't even want to lower the front, I just want the rear to match the front

Hit up THMotorsports for a koni/gc setup. Luke hooked me up and the service was top notch. Best prices I've seen on them. 850 to the front door. I ordered custom rates and got them in 6 business days (they said expect 10-14 for custom rates)
What kind of other suspension mods do you have? That plays a role in finding the correct spring rates as well.

Re: cheap d2s worth it?
I believe off the shelf integra rates are 360/250. Your car is not "front heavy" enough from a B18 to require 450lb rates. 450 isn't terrible up front...but the ride will be more rough.
Koni/Gc has its limitations. Since you're not planning on lowering the car much...they'll work well. I would still lower it like 1-1.5" to relax the spring a bit. If you do get the lowering bug later....don't go more than about 2-2.5".
They're not the most comfort oriented setup...so don't expect this to ride like silk. They're not harsh either, but they're firmly damped.

I have found setting the dampening correct is the make or break for the koni/gc setups. Like I have mentioned before I am running 600# fronts and 500# rears and I love the way they feel. BIG bumps, of course make the car jump, but every day driving on them is stiff but comfy...and performance is top notch. My setup might seem "stout", but it was built to do launches for dragging (keep wheel hop and weight transfer down) as well as still perform on corners and be streetable. "purpose built"

I have the koni/gc setup on my Ek hatch and on my eg hatch race car and love them. U can still have a nice comfy ride daily with higher rate springs. For instance, 450# front 300# rear still a nice ride for your daily car.

350/250 ish in an integra feels about as rough as a stock S2000. Infact....my ITR's stock suspension felt about the same over bumps compared to my gf's AP2.

why did you assemble like this??? did you not get the gc sleeves that were designed for the koni's? if you did, you do not need those metal rings. there is a groove inside the gc sleeve that sits on the circlip for the koni's.
if you didn't get the right sleeve's, call up eibach and order the adapter rings.

Why did you do that? GC did a pretty good job of putting together a system for you.
One of the points of the top hat is to move the bump stop up so you're not into it as much. The shock body can move into the hat, but with a shortened stop you're probably going to contact the frame before the stop, rendering it completely pointless.
I would contact GC and see if they'll be nice and send you a replacement set.
