Default best suspension combo for lowered look but smoothest ride.

Well i just aquired a stock GSR and i had a pretty aggressive setup on my last car and i am looking for something less performance minded this time. I want to lower it but lose as little comfort as possible.

That said, i dont know how low i want to go. Throw some ideas out there cuz i know the lower the stiffer it will have to be. but i realize the car isnt fast so i am not going to try and put together some killer suspension setup its a DD so i just want it to look good.

H&R sports with tokico illuminas or koni yellows would be a good combo; not too low not too high and its got an appropiate spring rate and ride for what it lowers.

Yup, Yellows or Illuminas with a spring like H&R Sport. Nice ride, improved handling and definately a compliant ride.

If you want the most comfortable ride, Koni yellows with eibach pro kits are perfect. I daily drive my car, 110 miles/day. Very smooth, almost like stock, but handling capabilities increased 10 fold.

The drop isn't too drastic. I still have a three finger gap in the front, 2 in the rear with 16's. I'm contemplating on running eibach sportlines with my koni yellows since the drop is a little bit lower but still comfortable.

As long as you go with the usual spring/shock combo, you'll be fine. The coilovers that you see from Tein, KSport, etc, might be a little too harsh for your tastes.

I had tokico illuminas with HR sports on my old hatch- I loved it, but to be honest i have tokico blues with neuspeeds and its a much better ride- I dont know if its because the new car is a Si and has the front sway and powersteering? But it handles alot better and feels way more "planted"

Eibach Sportline
KYB GR2

Do not get the GR-2's. They are stock replacements and will not support the Sportlines very well. At minimum get KYB AGX, but as said above, I also suggest the H&R Sports along with Koni Yellows. If you aren't too concerned with the shock performance you can go with KYB AGX, Tokico Illumina, Koni Reds.

H&R race springs are pretty stiff. They used 450lb springs I believe.

well i did some shopping tonight and talked to a buddy that gets my parts so here are my options

KYB AGX + H&R Sports = 405
KYB AGX + Eibach Sportlines (used) = 340
KYB AGX + TEIN S-tech = 400
Koni Yellow + H&R Sports = 615
Koni Yellow + Eibach Sportlines (used)= 551
Koni Yellow + TEIN S-tech = 610

The eibachs are obviously the cheapest cuz they are used but from the threads that i have seen they give a wierd ride height. Lower in the rear than in the front.

Right now i am leaning towards the 1st choice because i think the koni's are just not worth the extra 200 bucks for my application. and they cant be worth that much more than the AGX since they are both adjustable. no one has mentioned tein S-tech so i havent really considered them

The Koni Sport Yellows have in my opinion and other's real race data, have superior valving and damping characteristics over the AGX. They would yield a superior performance over the AGX even for DD.

The eibachs actually lower the car evenly, the gap you see is because the arch of the front fenders is made larger than the rear; the front has to be larger to allow the wheels to turn. You could rake the car for other bennifits, not just to make it cosmetically match.

Go with the Koni yellow and your choice of springs.

On my DD I have Neuspeed Sports w/ Koni Yellow and that was a smooth ride. When I installed full bushings from Energy Suspension that made the ride too stiff for daily driving.

i had the KYB-AGX's before...they rode ok. I think the Koni Yellows are better. I had the AGX's on eibach pro's too. They do have a lil gab difference in the front and rear. And the S-Tech springs are real smooth prety much like stock ride but they dont drop the car as much.

Right now im getting rid of my ksport coilovers and going with koni yellows but not sure if i want to go with Ground control coilovers or springs.

Yeah like I said the Koni's are better, but in your case you do not need them. I have used both and the AGX will work fine with any of those springs you listed although If you want a decent drop I would stay away from the S-Tech because they don't drop your car very much at all. (I used them before). If you're not looking to spend so much then the cheapest is your best bet: KYB AGX + Eibach Sportlines (used) = 340. Buying used can be a good thing sometimes (I got my used Koni Yellows and used H&R Sport springs for $370 total).

Tokico blues + TEIN S-techs. That's what I have, awesome drop, almost no sagging at all and super smooth.

i think i am going to get the koni yellows for now...my question is will they work with stock springs? if so i will just get them and worry about springs later since the shocks are so high$
