Default KAAZ LSD chatter

I had a question on the KAAZ LSD. I read somewhere it has a minor chatter on slow turns. I had one installed and it shakes the whole front end. Is this normal? I did install motor mount inserts also.

Thanks

what fluid are you using?
sounds like you're using the honda mtf. this is what happened to a friend. we thought it was a quaife, but it actually was a kazz. put in honda mtf and dear god the front half of the car was shaking terribly. switched to the right fluid and it's fine.

you need the kazz fluid or 80-90 gear oil. do a search.

also you need to break it in with the proper fluid by doing figure 8s for about 1/2 hour.

Yes, sounds like a lubrication issue. My BMW's diff (which I believe to be a clutch-style diff) does this at parking lot speeds (not autocross ), although the ruckus comes from the "correct" end of the car (paging tnord).

A fluid change later and it was a night and day difference.

Its 80-90w oil in there. I guess with addition to the motor mount inserts it just amplifies the shake a little more. I will go ahead and purchase KAAZ oil and see if it tones it up a bit.

I have also had this same problem on a past civic of mine. I did figure 8's for 1 1/2 hours to break mine in. Then after that I changed out the KAAZ fluid and put it fresh. The chatter/bumping wasn't that noticeable at first, but right before I took it out of the civic it seemed like it was the worst. I thought I might have chipped a tooth on the ring gear and maybe that was causing the chatter/bumping when turning the wheel. After seeing this post it seems like this is normal for the KAAZ lsd's. I still wanna pop the case off and take a look. I plan n selling the tranny to a friend and I don't want it to be bum when he gets it .

The clanking sound is absolutely normal for a clutch type LSD. Fluid can definitely makes a difference, but it won't eliminate the sound. If you understand how LSD works, you would know where the sound is coming from.

If your car is mostly daily driven (lots of slow speed turns like in a parking lot or local street), a clutch type LSD would be worn out pretty quickly.
