DIY - How To build your own Oil Catch Can
#51
Re: (DavidR)
hmm, I don't see that much of a difference between the two. I mean I'm sure the $85 has a more solid construction, but if the $50 one works just as well why spend the extra $35?

Wow, way to **** all over someone's thread guys. Go sit in a corner!
If it costs you $50, I think you have left the realm of DIY. You can do it for much much less, I guess it just depends on how much you care about form over function and whether you have a fetish with steel braided hoses. Not that there's anything wrong with spending money to make something look nice, but if you're going to do that, why not just buy one off the shelf? I have a lot of respect for custom fab though. I'm going back and forth like a schizo. Sorry.

How can you not see the difference between an outlet bell box with a blank face plate and this one which I suppose is of aluminum construction and very nice.
Either way the DIY is cool but there is definitely a difference between the two. for the DIY.

Where did everyone get their supplies..such as the hoses and 90 degree barbed fittings? I couldn't find the fittings at home depot or a local hardware store. The only ones I could find were plastic,1/2 inch (That would have fit great into the sides of the box). I also couldn't find correct sized hosing.

Re: (mike93eh)
Mike93eh, dude, you do gain horsepower by not putting oil into your intake in FI apps. It seriously reduces detonation.
Summit sells cheap catch cans... they're $14.50. That's what I would buy. the electrical box is very innovative and if I ever saw it in real life I would freak out from the ingenuity, but it's very ghetto in my humble opinion, at the risk of sounding like a bolt on *****. This is like the garden edging front lip. wow, i think it's cool for you to do, but not for me, thanks.
still. mucho

nice diy btw.</TD></TR></TABLE>
i dont know if its any better or worse(might be better because it has alot more fibers) but steel wool is probably what i will use, just dont want any coming apart and finding its way into the motor.

Re: (blufke)
the lufa doesn't "filter" anything. it keeps the oil down so it doesnt return in the line. and i've heard the steal wool will break apart and the the lufa thing is better.
