A catalytic converter can overheat to the point where it is so hot it is igniting the bottom undercoat of a car. If you happen to have a slight oil leak, you could be doing even more harm.

Re: what is this light? (hondahans)
i have seen that on most of the jdm clusters i have seen. FOr overheating cat convertor. Y? who knows... maybe because they have higher octane, their exhaust temps are higher and need to be monitored? No clue why, but thats what its for

IT IS ON JDM CLUSTERS ONLY. IT IS SUPPOSED TO TELL YOU WHEN THE CAT IS COMPLETELY WARM.
We here in the US do not have that plug for the bung so it does not come into play. I would suggest unplugging that bulb so it is not as annoying.
Sorry for the bold but I just had to inform everyone.

JDM ecu's do not check for a 2nd o2. If you run a jdm ecu, you can run a test pipe without the worries of a CEL.

Re: what is this light? (Jesse H)
It is a CAT over heat light, all JDM cars have a temperature probe at the end of the cat which lights up if the CAT gets too hot. It also lights up like that if the sensor gets disconnected. When people remove the CAT from their car they usually just take the bulb out of the cluster.
