For people that dont know what I am talking about I will explain it first.
On the back of the Profec B there is a small jack for the wireless boost switch. Some people came up with the idea to make their own wired switch instead of spending the $100 for the greddy one. In all the tutorials for this I have seen the people just took a mono headphone plug and when you touch the two wires together it switches. The big problem with this is you need a small piece of vacume line (1-2mm works best) to shorten the lenght of the plug or else something shorts out inside the profec B. I tried this and it worked pretty good for a while but every once in a while I would have to mess with the plug to get the connections correct because the insulation was keeping the plug from "clipping in" to where it was supposed to sit. Today I decided I had enough with the ghetto rigged switch and it was time to figure out how to do it right. I took the Profec B appart and to my amasement the plug in the back is a stereo headphone plug and NOT a mono one! The plug inside the Profec B had three contact points. The mono plug everybody was putting in there only had two and was shorting the plug out between two of the contact points which was making the Profec B smoke! I took a spare STEREO headphone plug I had laying around and plugged it in with no modifications what so ever. It work great. No smoke and it clicked in like it was supposed to so there is no more messing around with the connections. Now for the wiring part. Now there are three wires not two like everyone is used to. (refer to picture below) 1. The tip of the headphone plug is the signal wire to the Profec B. 2. The center of the plug is the power wire that goes to the wireless part (We wont use this) 3. The last part is the ground. Now all you have to do is put a momentary switch between the #1 and #3 wire and there you have it! I was able to use my old cruise control buttons on my steering wheel for my switch and that works great. Any questions?

I read mostly all the Profec B switch posts, I remember people's were shorting out and I'm pretty sure they finally figured out that the switch was supposed to be switching a ground on and not +12v like everyone was doing. Anyone remember something like this?

Yeah I do remember that and the way I did it takes care of both the mono plug problem (which is definatly one of the problems) and mine does go to ground. Even with going to ground you will still have problems if you try to use a mono plug without some type of spacer or washer.

Thanks for the positive feedback! If somebody wants to donate a profec A to me I'll figure it out!
It works really good cause I dont have cruise control in my car anymore and just a quick push of the button on the steering wheel and I'm at high boost! This function can also work as a ghetto traction control on launch. I wired the button in after the steering column so that I didnt have to worry about the wires wrapping around the steering wheel. I let honda fix that problem for me. I'm not on my home computer but I will post the wire colors that I used next time I'm on.

I was just looking on greddy's site and it says that wireless button they make will work on any of their profec boost controllers. This means that the wired one I posted should work on the A. Somebody check it out and post back. Remember the entire mod costs all of like $3!

The back of the A is the same, if you look around, the greddy switch will work on both A and B controllers, so there is no reason this trick wont work.

so do you have to hold the button? or is it one press to turn no high boost, then press again to turn off? Also do i have to setup my profec to run this, as i see nothing about it in the book? thanks for the great post

It acts just like pressing the button on the face of the Profec B to switch between lo and hi boost modes.

Like Beta13 said above it is just like pressing the button on the front of the profec. To hook it into the cruise control buttons just look up the color of the wires that go to the button and use the button as a normal momentary switch. I'll try to get a wiring diagram or atleast colors or something by tonight.

nice job man
remember when i did the hacked up insulation mono plug solution? it did work fine, but i would always check the connection in the back to make sure it didnt come loose. still, i'm sure the stereo plug would work a lot better since it'd be in all the way and there's no risk of losing connection. that's some nice work there. too bad i'm gettin outta the honda game. but i'm sure it'll be useful if i go boosted agn in the future. props to finally figuring out the clean solution

Here is a quick wiring diagram.
Today I am going to go to radio shack and construct another one so I will have part numbers and step by step pictures of where to solder. I have allready been contacted to see if I will make them. If you want one made just tell me what type of switch you want and how long you want the wire to be and I will shoot you back what it will cost. I promise I will be really fair with the price.

for those who have a momo wheel and dont use their horn, u can use the horn button as ur momentary switch. this is what i used to do on my boosted sol. it worked great, and i think would prob be more reliable if i converted over to stereo plug like revhigh96. honestly i think the greddy IR switch stands out too much anyway and looks like some infants toy.

Hey pengo, how did you feed the wire through the hub so it won't twist when you're making turns?
