Default Auto to 5 speed swap completed!! Do's and Don'ts! 56K go do an oil change and come back ....... seri

Parts List:
5 speed tranmission
clutch (pressure plate, disc)
shift linkage
manual ECU - more about this later
manual starter
flywheel
clutch master cylinder
slave cylinder
hydraulic lines
pedal assembly
tach - either a mounted one or a new cluster, helps with the downshifting
shifter
shift knob
shift boot
miscallaneous nuts and bolts!!

*Warnings*
A manual ECU - without one you will have "check engine light" - code 70 - auto tranny has a bunch of sensors that the manual tranny doesn't have.

A Junkyard nearby!! - You will need tons more nuts and bolts, and other misc. bullshit that complicates things.

Key can only be taken out in "Park" - You will have to "rewire" the wire arrangement underneath the automatic shifting console to trick the sensors into thinking that the car is in Park.

exhaust & shift linkage - I had to have my o2 sensor relocated underneath my vehicle. The shift linkage now knocks against the o2 sensor, will have to get it relocated soon.

Hole where auto shifter used to be - When you do the swap, you'll have to cut a large piece of metal from underneath the car. When you insert the shifter into the car it will not completely cover the hole. So you'll have to deal with hearing the car, and feeling the air & heat come rushing up into the car while you're driving. Just take it to a muffler/exhuast shop and have a piece of metal welded to it so you don't have to deal with it. I'll be doing that when I get the o2 relocated.

Tranny mounts & brackets - The rear auto tranny bracket can be reused with the manual tranny. The transmission I used came with a front bracket, so it was all good from there.

If you have any questions, you can PM or email me.

Not to mention

If you don't live in a house, stop by Sears and get a 100 ft. extension cord for about $10.

Forgot to give a shout-out to the neighborhood kids that ask "is that a sports car?" about 5 times every hour.

Good swap! But those JVC radios suck. I have to send more of those crap ass units to service then almost anything else.

Hey, hey! Don't diss the radio. Never, EVER skips one me!!! I've had it for a year AND it doesn't skip!!! What else can I ask for?? It's not that flashy at all, so people won't be bashing my window to steal, IF I leave the removable face plate in the car! JVC =

AND driving through downtown Atlanta occasionally with a lowered vehicle is USUALLY not CD Player friendly.

Edit: Does my interior look that bad?? Wherever I go I usually get compliments, and questions

Good job, I bet one of the hardest parts of the hole swap was getting the new pedals in and getting all the nuts on and off. I did the conversion on my crx to.

Do you have more pics of the clutch install? From what I can tell you drop your auto tranny, put a shifter through the hole and glue on a clutch pedal =P Congrats on that dime!

so many questions and so much flaming

i'll try to deal with you all in sequence

i didn't worry about the tranny so much b/c i'll be doing a swap soon, probably a b16a2 , i would do GSR but it seems like they're way OVERPRICED!!! $750 - $900 more for 10 hp & 8 lbs of tq. still debating, i'm so indecisive

the radio pics are from my car, and not_so_civic, he did most of the labor

the pedals are the hardest, which is why that job was saved until the end

okay, skip down past the interior comments, ah! another question

basically just move the sensors up and down the "sensor cluster that's underneath the auto console. move the sensor to the park position and just tape it up so you don't fu*k with it later, that way the car will be in "park"

How did you do the passenger side mounting? I bought a special mount for the swap. Did you Reweld and bracket?

I just slid the sensor and taped it down. I suppose if wiring was involved contact not_so_civic

As far the passenger side, you will/did need another bracket/mount. I, currently only have the rear and front on my tranny

i need something to cover this hole!!
i was thinking of having a piece of metal welded to it
