HELP HELP HELP!!!! B16a swap into 1.4 ej9 no vtec, iat and map sensor
Hi new to this forum but I really need some help,
Right to start with I purchased a b16a out of a jdm del sol and had a hand putting it into my ej9,
First time doing an engine swap so was advised on doing this set up from someone I know who helped
.B16a engine and box both mani's
.an ek4 wiring loom
.keep my p30 ecu from my 1.4 ej9 (as it should work) as I got told
And a bumper harness for it to plug in....
Only problem now is there hasn't been any vtec since the swap was done also its throwing cel codes 3,10,20
Map
Iat
Eld
The guy who helped with the electrical side had to cut and join plugs onto the ek4 loom for most parts to plug in and also bridged two wires on the jumper harness said it was for the vtec pressure switch or something.....
The vtec solenoid itself had two plug ports obviously the one for the vtec but the other port had a green part for something to plug onto but there wasn't anything on the loom to go there so I got another solenoid which didn't have the extra port and still no vtec car is over fuelling like crazy I get around 50/60 miles to £20 normal driving without putting the foot down which is scary for a 1.6!!! Need help asked a lot of people I know but they haven't an idea either.....

Surprisingly no code for vtec solenoid...you didn't plug in the map sensor properly I guess, unsure of you plugged in the iat on the manifold and depending on where you are in the world there are some ej's that didn't come with eld's.

A 1.4 EJ9 should have a D14A4 in it, which should be paired with a P3Y ECU. The P30 is the wrong ECU for that motor, so I don't know why you had it in your car in the first place. Is it chipped? Are you the original owner of the car? A P30 shouldn't be capable of even remotely TRYING to run a D14A4 without problems.
Check your MAP and IAT plugs - you might have them reversed. What are the colors of the wires you currently have plugged into each?

No guys, the TPS and MAP are usually reversed. They are the same plug. The IAT is usually a 2 pin plug and could either be located on the intake arm or on the intake manifold.
Also he swapped in a B16.

Wow thanks for the replies guys!
Yeah the ecu was already in when I got the car its a p30 for sure and the little d14 was surprisingly quick got to 125 no bother,
In Scotland
As for the two plugs in reverse order I tried that I swapped them over and the car idled really bad for around 4 minutes then cut out and failed to start soon as I swapped the plugs back over it fired right up but then again now vtec
I am not sure if its chipped as it came with the car when I bought it
I will go and check wiring colours and reply back as fast as I can
Thanks again for the replies and suggestion

Re: HELP HELP HELP!!!! B16a swap into 1.4 ej9 no vtec, iat and map sensor
Hi again so I just checked the plugs the way its set up right now
Iat sensor has 1 black wire with yellow stripe and 1 red wire
The plug that goes onto the top of the manifold unsure of what it is has 1 yellow wire with black stripe and 1 black wire
There is also an identical plug that goes on the left of the block behind a coolant pipe (unsure of its purpose) one black wire and 1 green wire......
I'll let my phone charge a bit so I can go out and take pictures and check my ecu
Thanks

P.s the two plugs I swapped over were the plug that goes into the intake manifold arm and the plug that's ones into the top of the manifold (unsure of its purpose) and that's when it died and wouldn't start up again the swapped them back and its just the way it was before

Re: HELP HELP HELP!!!! B16a swap into 1.4 ej9 no vtec, iat and map sensor
I'm wondering if this guy who had it before me had a replacement ecu and got a p30 by mistake and got it mapped or chipped to run a d14 instead of a b16? Because the p30 ran amazingly on my d14a4 was really quick for a 1.4

Re: HELP HELP HELP!!!! B16a swap into 1.4 ej9 no vtec, iat and map sensor
So I took a few pictures of the ecu and there's a wire on the jumper harness that's been cut and it doesn't connect to anything I've also took a picture of the port bit where the unconnected wire goes to see if anyone knows its purpose.... Ps the screws on the ecu weren't tight at all you could unscrew them with your fingers......
(Don't think I know how to send pictures threw on this thread)

Re: HELP HELP HELP!!!! B16a swap into 1.4 ej9 no vtec, iat and map sensor
i looked at the picture that you posted andoxviii and im really puzzled now because theres a sqaure shape flatboard thing that covers that whole section o my ecu thats screwed in with 4 screws at each corner its on the right hand side about an inch - 2 inch shorter than the ecu itself but only half the width of the full ecu if someone tells me how to post pictures up threw my iphone i have a few pictures that i hope people would know about....

Re: HELP HELP HELP!!!! B16a swap into 1.4 ej9 no vtec, iat and map sensor
a stock p30 5spd ecu. It looks like he grounded the vtec pressure switch to the vtec solenoid switch. That one wire could be the p/s switch

Take a look at the image, and at the yellow circle. Thats your IAT. Try to see if you have another plug sitting around in that area, under the manifold, behind the manifold. If so plug it into the iat. Reset ecu and check your codes.
