Default 5th gear hub and sleeve ques. for the RSX 5 speed

So I have my 5 speed tranny all apart to inspect what all is wrong with it and what I need to replace. If I can remember correctly I think the guy that sold me the tranny said that it had a 5th gear pop-out issue, but I really do not see a problem with anything 5th gear related. The guy I bought the tranny from never drove the car it came out of, so he may have had some info messed up.

Even though everything with 5th gear looks pretty decent I do have a question about the 5th gear hub and sleeve. Looking at the repair manual it says to install the sleeve with a specific way

One side of the sleeve has a little groove on it that is supposed to face down even though the hub itself does not have a specific way to be installed. Now looking at this hub and sleeve it is not like the other hubs and sleeves and technically it should work the same if you were to install the sleeve upside down. My sleeve has a little wear on the side that has been used in engaging into 5th gear. I just measured to make sure that both sides of the sleeve are the same size. I do not see why I can not install it upside down and save myself some $$$ from replacing that part right now.

I searched and did not find any info on this.
