Default Kidhuf 1993 ej2 build

Hey guys,

This is my 1993 Honda civic coupe Dx CDM model. I am the second owner of the vehicle bought it off a old lady who stored it in her garage for 12-years. It was covered in dust and needed some work to get it road worthy.

When I purchased it had 105,000 km on it I just rolled over 152k today. It has the stock engine which I just did the timing belt and water pump on. I have done some custom tasteful mods.

Tell me what you guys think here are some pics of the work I've done so far.

The most recent work was painting my rims, stripping the paint, sanding them down to metal, then sanding up from 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, wet sand, and the primer, paint, clear and mounted them. I unfortunately don't have any of the pics for that.

First I cleaned the dirty interior of the vehicle:

And heres what it looked like after shampoo, and vacuuming!

The second project, since it was in winter was painting the valve cover red:

The OEM paint that was on was super hard even with aircraft stripper!

Back to the metal

Taping it with precision

3 coats of VHT wrinkle red

Baked in my oven at 500 degrees, the house had a paint odor for days!

Finally mounted it back on to the engine sanded down the letters and walla!

I will update as I keep building.

you sanded with 2000 grit then primed ? you could have stopped at 400 primed sanded with 600 then painted. you want some texture for the paint to stick to.

Yesterday I retro-fitted a 99 Honda Prelude maplight into my ej2.

Measured first, traced checked again and then cut:

Ran the wires to the dome light and grounded it for power:

Finally the lights on, I put 2 LED's in and ordered a bigger one for the middle:

Sorry for the last crappy phone pic

I also retro-fitted power door locks on my ej2 because the Canadian models did not come with them.

First I went to the junk-yard to look for a switch I found one off of a Mazda Protege:

Second I took out the resistor:

I cut out my door panel:

I Inserted the lock switch and bolted it into the door:

This is the final product:

Update June 6th 2015

It has been awhile since I updated this thread, to say the least I've been busy, but looking forward to putting up some updates since I started this build. I got into an accident in 2014 and pulled my front end back, but it still needs some work to be straight again.

Here is a picture of the projectors in with some amber corners I had:

I sourced out a OEM black ej1 carpet and took out my old grey carpet that came with the car.

Vacuumed it at the coin op

Power washed it at the coin op

Then let it air dry in my backyard for a week.

And finally in

more updates to come when I dig up the pictures.

I had an oem live but sold, and got this replica spoon lip. I'm using all oem hardware but fitment is a bit off as it sags. I really would like a js racing lip or even a 5zigen lip.

Oh, sorry pal. I don't think you'd want that carpet as it was torn and also had some stains from the last owner. There are a considerable amount of grey carpets around compared to black in Canada. If I come across one I can send you the link.

Throwback to April 23rd 2013 when I got my vx rims installed.

I was going to go aftermarket. But, I lost hope after seeing my brothers ek and the quality of it. So I just kept searching for over a year and finally ended up with something good.

Thanks for the nice words, it actually needs to have the front end re-aligned and have the quarters re-done.

Thanks for the critism man, I used a mazda protoege power lock switch if you were wondering. You can easily find them in junk yards.

June 10th 2015 Updates

Some bad news as I was driving home from work my radiator decided to blow up on me, luckily I made it to the end of my street before shutting it off. it wasn't overheating or anything just had radiator fluid everywhere.

I ended up getting an OE replacement and fresh Honda spec 2 radiator fluid to do a full flush of the block and new radiator.

An finally after a week of waiting my Yonaka Coilovers came in from the mailman I will be installing them Friday hopefully if the weather stay warm.

The spring rates are 12k in the front and 8k in the back, they have a 0-4" drop. I don't have dampening, but heard good things about them from friends and people on d-series forums. I will definitely let you guys know how they ride and I'll make a video. I don't want to slam the car as its my daily. Im thinking 2 inch tops.

Lastly also received my rear quarter panel replacements from fixmyrust.com will be headed to my uncles shop which a 3 hour drive from my house to get him to help me put them on and then getting the car painted and front end pulled.

Yeah, tell me about our winters get worse each year. I'll have to raise her back up in October and throw some anti cease on them so they are fine after winter.

June 13th 2015 Update

So I attempted to put on my coil overs I got the fronts on, but unfortunately the rears weren't so cooperative. I took it to a shop and got new Skunk2 LCA.

Ordered OEM Bolts expensive

On the Lift, Bushings being burnt

Finally, on the ground how she sits for now.

Next will be adjusting the height, and alignment. Then I'll be saving up for a swaybar and some gsr blades.

June 27th 2015

Got around to raising the car an inch in the rear to match the fronts height. Overall, right now the Yonaka Coilovers are a very smooth ride not bumpy at all and very comfortable.

I got around to replace my old dirty and beat up aem filter.

With a new vibrant filter.

Next thing I am going to get is a subframe brace and currently sourcing a type-r sway bar. Then onto body from there on out.
