roller rockers on a d16z6?
Hey, guys I just saw a post that said one of the members here was selling a D16z6 head with roller rockets from a D15b. but what I would love to know is what year D15b would you actually be able to use the roller rockers that will fit on the D16z6 head.

Is this for real? Like can you do that? If i did this could i expect to see higher hp numbers? This is the first time i've heard of this.

I read about this last night, correct me if im wrong here guys. I read that you can use the D15z1 Vtec-E roller rockers. But in order to use them you have to use the z1 camshaft too. So it being more Economical oriented engine i dont think anybody really see's any advantage to using them.

I believe entire valve train swaps (including cam) are possible between the Y8 and Y5 and also Z1 and Z6. I've read multiple posts on people that have done it. But the cam must match the valve train.

"This is, by far, the worst idea I've ever had (the whole reason I'm deleting it). The rocker arms didn't line up properly, the cam caps needed to be align honed, and it would need an oversized custom cam made." No one makes cams for the vtec e head...

I'm guessing the theory is less friction in the valvetrain=more power. That's what I've always assumed being raised in a domestic v8 family. In a built race motor I can possibly see a benefit. In a d series I wouldn't waste the effort.

Guys roller rockets are not so much for horse power gains as much as for quick revs.
This would work best if you had a lite flywheel and lite weight pulleys. Roller rockets have much
Much less friction than the stock one. And so therefore will rev faster. And if it really didn't do anything why would Honda invest millions and millions to have them on all the si 2009 models and up. I hope I can find some answers and not a lot of negative talk.

Some member on this site claims he installed some roller rockets on his D16z6 head and I would like to hear from someone who has either done this or know what motor these came off of and no its not the hx with the vtec-e this one will not work because it does not have the third vtec lobe.

Hey, let me just say just one things ,most if not all real race motors have roller rockers that's why Honda decided to put them on the new si. End of story. They do something now if you can't use your imagination an see with your mind a wheel rolls and a pallet slides. Stop the negativity. I don't see the point to a lot of things people do to hondas but I respect that if they want to spend the money to do it more power to them.

Then be the pioneer and do it. It was already demonstrated by someone in the past that it was attempted and it was a fail. If you think you can be successful then do it and stop talking to us. Dreamers talk. Trailblazers do.

I guess it would easier than a head swap say from an HX to an EX for "performance" or from an EX to an HX for MPG. To my knowledge you can't just swap the roller rocker portion from an HX and use an EX cam, nothing would line up. Same applies to VX (D15Z1) to an EX/Si (D16Z6).

Are Z1 roller rockers a direct bolt-in for a Z6 head? No. OP, if you're actually interested in doing this, look into using a Y8 head rather than a Z6 head. Some time researching this idea will tell you why.
