Re: New PB, 10.36 @ 138mph, J32 turbo EG street car
Thanks for the dyno time and the plugs, Mike!
I was able to take the data from that last pass (where I added two more degrees of timing) and make a hp and trq curve:
717whp@6950rpm
581wtq@6170rpm
Stock J32A2 (w/ ported/polished/flipped IM and 75mm TB)
Stock TL-S 6spd LSD trans
Stock axles
Cam2 110 octane leaded fuel
Boost: 20psi
Borg Warner S366 w/ 4" downpipe
My air fuels and EGTs were pretty solid for all 14 or so good pulls. I had to add a little fuel around 12psi. Started at 8psi and worked up to 20psi over 4-5 pulls. Once I made it to 20psi, motor was at 693whp/568wtq. Then added 2 degrees of timing to get to 707whp/???wtq. Finally ended with two back to back pulls with 2 more degrees of timing to get the numbers in the chart and 715whp in the second to last pull.
:D ... more track times this Friday

On 12 psi it went 10.3 @ 138, last friday he turned up the boost in 4th,5th gear to 20psi went 10.2 @ 147. Hopefully we can make the adjustments mike suggested by this friday plus having the new slicks and not this 4 year old ones we will see some 9 sec passes! Thanks again Mike!

Very impressive. I think I would pull one degree back out if it only picked up 8whp in the last 2 degrees vs 14whp from the 2* before that. Better to race at 707whp without issue than squeeze to 715 and have HG or rod bearing issues.
How high are you revving it at the track, higher than 7500?

Last night at T&T, 10.0 @ 146mph, so close to 9's and still on stock block and heads. The notes that boosted J32 produces is intoxicating.

I have my rev-limiter set at 7600 rpm but I try to shift between 7400-7500. The valve lash was a bit loose last Friday but I was able to get them all within spec before we went to the track last night.
Yup, I was really hoping that last pass was gonna be a 9.9 ET ... I didn't heat the tires up long enough after they were sitting for 3hrs, and the rest of the pass went downhill from there ... stupid mustang breaking down on the track screwed everything up.

After datalogging the first pass and picking up some knock in the top of 3rd and 4th I retarded the timing 2 degrees and then pulled back another degree after I still saw a small amount of knock in the 2nd pass. I'd rather keep the motor running longer than make < 3% more power.

It would be interesting to throw some Q in it, put the timing back and see what it does. I would presume it really does like the timing (not knowing the numbers) based on the trap decrease but might be just close enough to the edge on 110.

I actually pulled the timing back so it was only 1 degree more advanced than the week before (vs 4 degrees that I adjusted on the dyno). I attribute the 1-2mph drop in trap speed to the brand spanking new slicks and slightly lower tire pressure. Plus, the wheels were spinning in the rims for at least the first few passes.

You got it man, I noticed some knock around 8-10psi on pump gas and didn't want to grenade the motor when $8/gal is all that 110 octane fuel costs.
