Ok So here's a background story. 1990 Honda civic with a 1.5... roughly 230k on the motor. I bought the car without a clutch cable, I don't know crap about hondas so I put the clutch cable on wrong... yes that's possible apparently. When I put the cable on wrong it was really hard to push the clutch in and out. After a little while of this I figured out I put the cable on wrong and put it on the right way. Clutch worked great after that, until now. It's been getting harder and harder to push in, and I keep having to tighten it until it wont tighten any more. looked underneath and this is what I saw... I'm assuming the pivot point of the clutch pedal is broken. Has this happened to anyone else and is this something that I can fix with a part from the junkyard? It looks like a big assembly I'm hoping its not attatched to the body... btw the pedal is at a weird angle now too

Honestly I cannot tell what im looking at... I do know that whatever you cracked in the middle of the pic needs to ne replaced. You do however need to move the pedal while looking at that spot to see what it does or doesnt do.

Well I do know that the pedal pivots at the point where that bar or support or whatever that thing that cracked is. Couldn't really tell if it was moving or not, but it's got to be.

no the cable does not pass through it... to clarify, the clutch pedal is on the right and the view is straight up

your gonna either have to weld that bracket back on or have to replace the pedal assembly, i've seen a few floating around here and if you can find a crx in the junkyard you can get it there too.
just search for auto to manual conversions and you'll see what you have to do actually here's one, just start reading the beginning it's like 5 paragraphs or something http://crxcommunity.com/viewtopic.php?t=5421 |

This is a common problem, you will want to weld in braces to reinforce that area.
EDIT, this should help. Different car but same thing http://www.hondacivicwagon.com/bb/vi...hp?f=7&t=10656 Last edited by TerribleToo; 11-21-2011 at 11:02 AM. Reason: rawr |

thanks for the link... I'm going to try and pry it back in place, see if it drives like it used to, then put it back in place again and have my friend weld it... Hopefully he can weld it without taking the whole thing out, but I really doubt it. I just don't really have the time to take my whole friggin car apart but if I have to I will.

Take it out and weld it. Burning carpet is not fun, trust me.
