Relocating Ignitor (ICU / ICM)
So Ive had it with blown ignitors and Im fortifying my ignition setup. This is what I got...
Car - 2000 Turbo GsR
Parts
- Mallory Hyfire Digital CD Ignition box (6852m)
- Crane cams PS92 High Performance Coil
- MSD cap and rotor
- Magnecor KV85 Plug wires
Im also trying to relocate the stock ignitor to inside the cabin for cooler temperatures.
Im trying to trace the wires from the ignitor to the chassis harness and for the life of me I cant locate them.
Wire #1 - Does this go from the ignitor to the ECU and then to the tach?
Wire #2 - Dont need
Wire #3 - Cant find it... Does this go to ECU?
Wire #4 - Research said this is B13 at ECU... Is this right?
Do these wire sustain the same color throughout... or do they change at the engine harness/chassis harness connection on the strut tower?

Re: Relocating Ignitor (ICU / ICM)
Wire #1 blue, my wiring daigram only shows it going to a junction and then to tach and tach test connector, but it must also go to the ECU/ECM, why not just extend the blue lead to reach the ICM.
Wire #2 pretty sure you will need it, it "fires" the coil, or in your case most likely signals your " Mallory Hyfire Digital CD Ignition box (6852m)".
Wire #3 black/yellow is the 12V+ ign. input, [power for the ICM] should be hot in run and start.
Wire #4 my wiring diagram only shows ICM on the ECU/ECM, but it appears it is the only yellow/green at the ECU/ECM. 94

Re: Relocating Ignitor (ICU / ICM)
First off, thanks so much for taking the time to go through your diagrams and write such a detailed response.
Oh, I should have explained that when I said I didnt need wire #2, its because I dont need to trace it because Ill be running a new wire from the ignitor to the mallory box.
I have enough information to proceed with this install... Thanks again, it is much appreciated

Re: Relocating Ignitor (ICU / ICM)
So everything is ready to be installed and here are a few pics
Ignitor in a general electrical box
Different View
Ignitor next to an ignitor bypass circuit I also made
Im using an OBD1 Dizzy so this is the adapter harness and the 3 wires that were extended into the cabin
Mallory with ground and Coil wires
The entire harness

Re: Relocating Ignitor (ICU / ICM)
So I installed everything and it didnt start with the ignitor... I hooked up the ignitor bypass box and it started right up. What could I be missing here? Im still troubleshooting but any ideas?
