Nippon 84mm pistons? do they exist?
Right now I have a stock block b20b vtec and one day I will be doing a rebuild and adding a higher compression piston. I was going to use YCP slugs but I read that nippon makes a 84mm p30 and might consider using them.... Does anyone know where you can find them?
Im not going forged so don't suggest it.
Thanks for all responses.

There are no p30's made over 81.5mm bore. Trust me I searched for weeks when building my GSR. Only PR3's, P73A0's and CTR's

Yea it may have been pr3s I seen, not too much differnce between the two a lil less cr, or u could get the ctrs and shave** down the dome a lil

Nothing a joke, but I have seen them used with the dome machined down to bring down the cr and provide better clearance

no not everyday, my friend has them in his 2.0 I sat with him at his job while he machined the pistons and honed his block. I wish I could work in a machine shop and see that **** everyday.
No need for remarks, if you don't want to go thru the trouble just use the pr3s.

Right so I didn't watch him fly cut his valve reliefs and clay his engine to the proper clearance on one piston, then match the rest to it and then shaved down the domes on each of them and then smoothed them out. I'm making it all up

Hmmm.... Never seen the CTR's bigger than 82mm. Have any links to where these can be purchased?

Re: Nippon 84mm pistons? do they exist?
Found itrs but not ctrs, could've sworn they were from RS but I am only finding the ctrs up to 82mm like said...

I'm positive my friend didn't use the itrs tho the dome is too little. Ill look into it more even tho I've been called a liar twice so far

Cant find the nippon but these are basically either P30,Or JDM ITR. take your pick. They are available from 84-85mm.

^^^Those arent P30's nor are they JDM ITR's. Those are PR3's and P73-A0's (USDM ITR)
The JDM ITR slugs will put the CR in the 13:1 range and P30's would be around 12.9:1. And thats with a B16 head. Those numbers will go up .3 of a point with a GSR head. The USDM ITR pistons are the best choice IMO. 12.3:1 w/ a B16 head.
Im not sure where they pulled their compression numbers from but they are wrong.

Nonetheless if i am wrong about the wrist pin location i have used them on 92 pump gas and jun 3 cams with no problems with detonation.

Hmm thats interesting. Thats something I would want to measure out myself rather than just assuming.
You had those in a B20V? I could see them working if they were JDM GSR slugs (P72-00) but the domes are too large for it to be those.

Re: Nippon 84mm pistons? do they exist?
Yeah the pistons work fine in a B20 with a gsr head. .016 off the head and .004 off the block. Calculated comp somewhere shy of 12.6:1

Re: Nippon 84mm pistons? do they exist?
Will upload images later this week. They arrived on Friday. I know its been 4 years but I think there will still be plenty of demand. They made them in 81 to 82mm and 84 to 85mm with Teflon Coated skirts and Ceramic decks
