Re: Painting Window molding
I have been thinking about doing this for some time now as well. I take it you are talking about the black molding around the bottom of the window? I would sand/scrape off all of the paint, or what ever it is, it is kinda rubbery. Then spray it, maybe try using a rubber spray paint. I think it is worth a try especially considering replacing it with a new part that has fresh paint is $90 per side.

If you want, tape off the area with masking tape and newspaper, and scrape it first, sand it with some red scotch bright or say 600 or higher sand paper and then spray paint it.

Re: Painting Window molding
to take off the molding on the bottom of the window.. you first have to remove the 3 screws on the door that hold the molding on the side.. then you basically just slide the molding toward the back and it comes off.

I've been meaning to do this as well. Somewhere around here I saw a write up on painting this. If you still need pictures that thread should be pretty easy to find

Re: Painting Window molding
I just did this on my 97 civic on the driver side and havent gotten around to the pass. side yet so maby if it stops raining i can take a before after picture and post it.
I didnt use anything special just a can of Kyrlon Fusion. I used satin black because thats what i painted my steel rims with.
I wound window down, Took off doorcard, Took off mirror, got on the outside of door and grabbed the trim and took it off by pulling in a rolling motion towards myself and it popped right off without breaking any plastic yellow clips. Everything will come off without much force and should snap right back in.
What i had problems with is when I pulled the Molding off the back drivers side window to paint. It pulled right off I painted it. But when i put it back on it WOULD not slide back over the window in one particular spot. I could get the whole thing looking perfect but this one spot just wouldnt push in no matter what. I had to take a razor blade and shave down the inside of the molding slightly over and over untill it slid back in and then perfect!
