Icon2 Engine Oil Capacities

Im New And don't know how to setup a poll. i understand the oil capacities is 4 quart and wondering is putting another quart is bad for the car? when i buy my oil at walmart, i alway put Mobile 1 5-20 Full Synthetic and ALWAYS put 5 quart, i don't know why i just do.

is it actually bad putting another quart although i'm not actually burning any oil? or is it fine? tell me your thought, what brand you used and how many quart you put in. thanks you

Why would you want to put more oil in then recommended? Its just wasting oil for one thing.

I do the same thing, I had a hard time finding oil capacity so I just dropped 5 in.
I just use Walmart whatever brand high mileage.

I had my oil changed at a shop recently and I'm sure they put in the right amount, but I can now hear a tick.

It's not a good idea to overfill your engine.

4 qts is still too much dude.
I'm pretty sure its anywhere between 3.2-3.7(3.75 is fine) quarts of oil. look in your car owners manual. Have you ever checked the dipstick and wondered why there are two marks on the end...? On is for the minimum amount of oil, and one is for the maximum amount of oil.... Not to sound like a dick, but this is really common sense in my opinion..

True, it's pretty much commonsienae. I know there 2 mark on the dip stick, but from me when I ever change my oil, i purchase my oil at local walmart and buy mobile 1 5-20 full synthic. It the big 5 quart one, I just pour the whole thing. For now on, I just add 4 quart instead of 5 quart. Thanks for the opinion.

I've driven Civics off and on for 20+ years. I've always put 4 qts in and went on my way. I haven't blown an engine yet. 0.3 qts isn't gonna kill it but, a whole qt will.

When I read "in case you care, walmart brand is a re manufactured oil." (originally posted by "daddy,") I thought he was referring to the very first post that started this thread. I didnt know he was actually referring to the third post, "I just use Walmart whatever brand high mileage," by "wittynamessuck" because i didnt sift though it enough. .....

...hopefully this makes sense...

anyway, back to subject... What civic model do you have, shawnlee250?

Em2abe,

Currently I have a 2004 Honda civic ex 5 speed 4 door and I baby this car. Note* I purchase the car not too long ago, I'll tried to keep it top notch as possible.

My prevous was an 01 civic lx auto and was my first car. Sold it to get the newer one.
Hopefully in the near future I can post some pic.
