Default Recommended settings - Coilovers ('07 si)

Hey guys,

I have a set of Buddy Club racing spec coilovers waiting for install. I can comfortably install these, but the issue I'm having is a complete understanding of adjusting the preload (Top 2 notches). Is there a recommended measurement from the notch to the top of the shock for both the front and rear? Or do you just set the preload so the spring is snug?

Any recommendations would be great, I've been watching videos and DIY articles for a week; these were pricey and I don't want them to break

Edit: So I know that the fronts have to be equal, as with the rears. I'm just curious how compressed they "should" or "need" to be. So in this thread on the first page, it's advised that the spring height is preset for you at 200mm. https://honda-tech.com/honda-civic-2...overs-2678198/

Are you going to track the car or are you just going to go 'hella stanced'?

Why does this matter?

I think he's asking because the rear suspension is not coil-over-shock on a 9G Si.

The coil spring is mounted inboard of the shock and will have a different MR than the shock.

So to lower the car, the shock perch and spring perch must be adjusted independently. But the adjustment must be done correctly in order to get the desired shock stroke-to-ride ratio.

Hopefully, someone has some measurements for the guy. I'm surprised that the coilovers did not come with this....

OP...if 200mm of spring length is your 0 position as recommended by buddy club, then:

-before adjusting height, set the spring loose.
-shorten the shock if you want the car lower. Lengthen it if you want it higher.

-once the shock length is set, set the spring to 200mm length.

You will need to do this every time you change height.

Or figure out the MR, do the math, and set the heights simultaneously. Its easy.

Thanks for replying guys. They actually shipped me the wrong product. I have an FG2. And they sent me FD2. So the knuckle isn't aligning correctly with the bottom mount of the coilovers. I installed already, and drove 5-10 miles with crazy positive camber. I removed them 5 times trying to get the right settings before i realized they were for a different damn car haha. Anyway, I really hope buddy club will take these back, I know they don't like taking returns on parts already installed, but they sent the wrong ones.

I ended up getting the preload correct on fronts and rears. The rear fits perfect.

Is it possible to use a FD2 spindle on the FG2? Or a different lower control arm, in case buddy club refuses to correct their mistake?
