PROJECT: Free Integra aka DirtyDA
First off, yes, I got this beautiful DA for free... You heard right, free! From my mom's boyfriend, it was his old DD. The headgasket went on it and the tensioner did as well, so he didn't feel like paying for it since he just bought a brand new car. This car is a completely stock 1991 Integra stick shift. Interior is perfect, so is the exterior, except for the paint and the dreaded honda rust above the rear wheels. No dents or dings on any pannel. So the project began.
Shitty cameraphone pix the day I brought it home:
You can see how dirty the engine is...
Let the madness begin!
Getting painted bronze, don't worry.
Rusty filter
nice and clean
And last but not least, my favorite picture, soon to be my avatar hopefully.
Plans... Paint car white, roof black, cf hood, cf hatch lid, bronze wheels, and slammed like a 5 dollar hooker.... And eventually, BOOOST
UPDATE:
I was having such a hard time getting this car started.
First problem: No spark - replaced igniter and coil, spark problem fixed.
Then: No fuel pump - Resoldered main relay, fuel problem fixed.
Still wouldn't start.
http://youtu.be/yeF7aRW3yHk
Then I did a compression test with terrible results.
http://youtu.be/1FNcdJvttpE
150 125 25 30 were my compression numbers.
Then I did a leakdown test and made it into a how to
http://youtu.be/6si_O6GAB9o
I almost have the head off I just can't find my 12point socket to get the ARP headstuds off.
I already have JG 301 cams for it, tomorrow I'm ordering supertech valves and crower springs/retainers. So after I lap the valves and recheck the seats, the head will be completely built. Can't wait!!
I'm also in the process of shampoo scrubbing my whole interior, when I got it all out the other day, only thing left is carpet.
How she was before I rattle canned her. Rattle can is temporary.
Painted. Photoshopped the wheels white
8:00 minute head removal lol
http://youtu.be/wmf5642W5ts
UPDATE! 10/30/11
Painted, I think I am going to go with wrinkle red like the Type-R
Can you pick out the bent ones? lol
The GSR disassembled.
How it's been sitting for the past few days...
Almost done, just need to get the damn belt on right! I also lost my crank pulley key!!. Fudge...
The head I bought the other day, got my 301 cams in it.
Finally started!!! I really need to adjust the idle. And this new head was missing 3 exhaust studs so I have to take them from the old head, but that's why it is leaking exhaust right from the head/header.
http://youtu.be/ME44OaHnT5U
B16 pistons, shotpeened rods, and ARP rod bolts!!
JG 301 idle
http://youtu.be/sU3rYADWZMs
Picked up a '93 gsr front bumper and ef leather seats for $70 total!
springs and lugs just came in
All from this week
installed...
I'm a little worried about the clearance of the 4-1

Re: PROJECT: Free Integra aka DirtyDA
I was thinking about it but I already picked up a rebuilt head off of a local honda guru for 200 bucks. Plus, I have a fully built DSM that i used to have a 16g on before (now 20g), and I plan on putting that on the teg. SSautochrome (scary I know) has a b18 manifold that bolts up to a 16g, and I already have a spare intercooler and piping off the talon, so that's my plans...
And thanks for the positive feedback guys, means a lot, especially since this is my first honda, I actually never even thought of owning a honda (always had respect for them though), I'm a dsmer through and through, but now I have a soft spot in my heart for honda
P.S.

Looked so much better before you rattle canned it. Now you'll have to sand it all down before painting it properly.
How do you plan to fix the rust?

Re: PROJECT: Free Integra aka DirtyDA
The sides looked fine, but the hood, roof and trunk were poo. After doing it I look at it and shake my head, I'm not happy at all with it lol. I plan to cut it and weld in sheet metal, bondo doesn't cut it for me because it won't last too long and I plan on keeping the car for a very long time.

Thanks broseph! I'm stuck on which color to get it painted though! Help me! I'm gonna post up the colors I like in a bit. I want to be different so I'm thinking of colors you don't usually see on repainted DA's.

I can't figure out if this is the spring/retainer set, or just retainers, seems to cheap to be the combo, but the title is confusing and there is no discription...

I really like championship white, but I see too many DA's with champ white already, as much as I want to do white, at the same time I would rather be different lol

Re: PROJECT: Free Integra aka DirtyDA
Well it's official, my head is FAWKEDDD. Took a straight edge and feeler guage to the deck of the head, baddd. And the seats and valves will have to be machined, new valves and lapping wouldn't fix this problem.
Options: 1-Send to a machine shop 2-Spend just as much money on a new head and just build and lap that.
I'm leaning towards 2
