The steel pan on the K24 has a dent in the corner. Its not bad but the aluminum pan on the K20 would offer some oil cooling properties.

Alright here we go....
1) I only swapped cam position sensors.. they say to swap the knock sensor but the k20 knock sensor did not read on my k20, so I solder on a k24 knock sensor plug onto my k20 wiring harness and run the k24 knock sensor.
2) I didn't notch the radiator support but I've seen some say the same thing about notching so not sure...
3) I used all the components off of my k20 for the k24. So water pump, housing, thermostat, ac, ps, blablabla
3a) For the water neck you need to use the k20 water bypass tube but k20 thermostat housing.

We used the K20 housing & the K24 bypass tube. We had to bend the tube alittle but it works.

The heater hoses are coming up short fitting the K24.

Heater hoses that go through the fire wall not the radiator hoses. The RSX hoses are about 1.5in too short.

sorry for reviving an old thread but i have searched also.
but do you know if you can run a stock type s ecm/ecu
or is it mandatory to run kpro instead?
looking at tsx engines, looks like these are like 1000 dollars
cheaper than the stock k20a2 but have more tq.

You're only choice is KPro. Not sure on the reasoning though. Just the maps are completely different

I'm not sure if the the TSX ECU will plug up, but you will definitely need to at least get the immobolizer rekeyed, so no it does not work either (in stock form)

Well reprogramming the key is not a major problem, I have a master tech with dealer level software. I have a complete engine harness, so that just plugs straight into the ecu. I am just not sure it will run the dash and other stuff. And why would a civic ep3 ecu run the engine correctly anyway ? isnt that a diferent engine than the tsx or rsx type S >?

I didn't say it would run correctly. Just pointing out that it doesn't work.
And the K24A2 and K20A2 aren't similar either. But I didn't try using a PRB with a K24A2 so w/e. Run it see what happens

ok. sorry for bringing subject up again but ive been searching for hours on what i need for my swap. only thing i cannot find correct information on is what wiring harness you need. this is what im stumped on. what wiring harness/ecu combo i need to run stock k24a2 in my 03 base 5 speed rsx? please help.

You need to run a Kpro ecu. Especially if going from a EP3 which only has intake cam vtec verse the k24a2 tsx engine that has true vtec. Also being one is a K20 and one is a K24 they have completely different fuel trims and tunes... it would be sooo dumb and bad to try to run any stock ecu from a k20a3. Also you CAN NOT run a TSX ECU as it is DBW and our cars are cable driven. Plus it will not plug in under the dash.

you will want a Type-s ecu/kpro and a type-S harness. The base harness will have sensors not used like for the intake manifold runner sensors. But you probably could use the base one and just not connect those other sensors... let them hang...

what does RPM have to do with power? It's all on how the engine is built and what it is built for.
I make 230lb of torque by 2300rpm.... 2300! Thats more than some have HP and so instantly. I may only rev to 7600 but I make torque all the way across the board and make 315whp at 7600.
High RPM doesn't always mean more power...

Hey SKOUNDREL! how's the K24 running in the EP3? I've been trying to figure out what to do with my k20z and I've had all kinds of sensor issues. maybe it's time to go back to stock and settle for good gas mileage! :/
