Re: 6th gen f23a1 to f20b swap thread
Okay i think i might have something to add to this, but i do have one last problem.
I have a obd1 f20b in my 2k accord.
yes the car has to be wored dizzy, knock sensor does not have to be plugged in. I bought an ecu already chipped from www.Phearable.net they are very good and answering realted questions.
the stock f20b ecu didn't work for me because the harrness and my stock ecu from my f23a1 did work other than red line issues and such things. phearable ecu will fix this. pin 4 and 9 is the same to get codes to flash.
v-tec has to re-wired for it to work because the jdm v-tec does not have the sensor plug. easy fix. i been drivin mine around for a while now and lovin it.
I got alot of it figured out but dont get me wrong i dont know it all with this. im still learning along the way.
the one problem i do have and can't figure out is that my oil light flashes at me and now my vtec will not work. my pump works i have no leaks. i can't figure out why i have no/low pressure. It uses 5.5L and i use full syn mobel 1 oil.
Done a compression test and drop thinking maybe i was burning oil througha ring or valve. Has anyone some across this problem and found a fix? I have plenty of pictures if anyone wants. I dont run p/s but im about to hook up my a/c again. im going to use the a/c compressor off a f23a1.
Also the iacv needs to be off an obd1 witch you can get off an h22 engine. again 3 wire to 2 wire. i have skunk 2 cam gears short arm intake and a stage 3 clutch all off the h22. Helps to get the parts from an obd2 engine and electrical off obd1.
also im running 100 shot wet with the mix of fuel.
Keep in mind the f20b cam shafts are type-r unlike the h22. the main difference is the h22 has bigger exhaust and intake valves.
if i lost anyone just pm me.
btw i have a 4dr 6th gen. F20b still pulls great just need my oil pressure back so vtec will kick in.

f23a1 tranny is a straight bolt up. hassport supplied my engine mounts also.
its pretty tourqe so switching out the axels is recomended. I already snapped each side once.

Re: 6th gen f23a1 to f20b swap thread
I just swapped out a f23a ulev For the f20b in a 2002 accord lx 5 speed coupe. Car runs and idles smooth . The fans turn on when it gets hot but the temp guage does not work. Knowing that the fans kick on is nice but it's my girls car and she wouldn't know if they turned on or not. So how do i make the guage work. Is it a wire or sensor? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
My second question is I have a check engine light on. It is PO1166 which is an O2 sensor. Is it the front or back O2. One was replaced recently and was very expensive due to it being a special 02 sensor for the ulev motor. If i swap that out for a regular 02 sensor will that coffee go away? Any help would be great.

Temp gauge does not tell you when the fans come on. That being said, there should be a single contact sensor under the distributor in the head. That is the ECT sensor that goes to the temp gauge on an H22. Not sure if the 2002 works the same or not.
As far as the O2 goes, what ECU are you using?

Re: 6th gen f23a1 to f20b swap thread
Ik the fans are triggered by a sensor . I am using the f20b ecu and switched out the sensor with the same one off the Old motor and still nothing reading for heat.

Not sure if the wiring for the ULEV is the same as the standard O2. Might want to verify that you don't have to swap any wires for the F20B ECU. Wish I could be more specific however, I don't have a shop manual for the 6th gen.

Re: 6th gen f23a1 to f20b swap thread
Any suggestions for the power steering. I got the prelude bracket but maxing out the pump on the bracket still leaves the belt a tad loose where the power steering works just squeeks a little cuz it not tight enough. Do you think i should just try a new belt thinking the old is just stretched. Our do you thinkneed the prelude pump?

Try a new belt. Another thing you could try is a belt that is a bit shorter.
Remove the belt and set the pump at half adjustment. Then take a measurement the distance the belt travels. Take that measurement to the parts store. They should be able to match the length with something they have in stock, if the OEM Honda belt is still too long.

Re: 6th gen f23a1 to f20b swap thread
The most Easiest solution (in my opinion) to wiring in an Accord is switching to Obd1 ecu. The 97 Prelude swap is a bit cheaper to do but you gotta use an H22 oil pump with the crank sensor protrusions for it and you gotta have the h22a4 pick up ring as well. I had to use an 97 prelude power steering pump on my 94 accord with an inch shorter belt with the accord crank pulley. I've done this swap 3 times on three seperate vehicles
