I know a lot of these are semi-expensive, but honestly they are the closest group of inexpensive hotels available. I for one am either staying at the wingate or the days inn, depending on my research of reviews
Camping

A few people have expressed interest in camping, to save some money. William B. Umstead National Park has campsites available.

Facility: Tent and Trailer Campground. 28 drive-to campsites for tents and a limited number of sites for small recreational vehicles. There are no electrical/water hookups. Each campsite has a picnic table and grill.
Location: Crabtree entrance (Hwy 70).
Accommodates: Two tents, two vehicles and up to six people per campsite.
Nearby Amenities: Drinking water and restrooms with showers.
Available: March 15 to December 15.
Reservations Required: Reservations are strongly advised. Any unreserved sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Drive-to / Walk-in Camping (no electrical / water hookups):

Picnic table and grill on campsite --- $18/day
Senior citizen (62 or older) --- $13/day

Activities?

Thursday: Arrival, Check in around the afternoon. Then, its off to the Dunn-Benson Dragstrip for $5 Test and Tune Night. Its $5 to enter, and $5 to run. Should be a lot of fun.

Directions, It takes about an hour.
Friday: Adventure Land Raleigh! Its kind of a little kids park, but for $35 we get four hours of unlimited Go-Karting, Mini-golf, and Laser tag! For the rest of the day, enjoy shopping in Raleigh, or go out with the boys for drinks! Tons of nightlife to enjoy!
Adventure Landing
Directions
As for bars (for those of us that are old enough) Hi5 is supposed to be awesome. Free before 10pm, $10 after, their whole menu is $5 (food) and a HUGE variety of beer.(as in 200+ beers)

Saturday: OMGWTFBBQFTW! We will spend a day at the park, BBQing, Photoshooting, BSing, and just hanging out! Location, TBA, feel free to shoot me any ideas.
(NO drinking and driving will be permitted/allowed/understood)

Pets are welcome, just have to be leashed.
For the shelter, three of us from 3geez have agreed to pay for it. Food will be provided as well, but we will be MORE THAN HAPPY to accept donations :-)
Sunday: Pack-up, Get ready for checkout, and say good-bye.... Breakfast/Lunch will be had, so don't just leave!

What Should I Bring?
Your car (duh), your friends, your wives, kids, dogs, whoever and whatever you want. Nothing illicit, but we are going to have FUN! If you bring your 2nd/3rd Gen Prelude, 3rd Gen Accord, or 1st Gen Integra, GREAT! If not, we are enthusiasts, we understand downtime, just bring whatever it takes to get you here!

As far as parks for Saturday I would highly recommend William B. Umstead State Park. It is just west of Raleigh about 4 miles outside the beltline. It has lots of facilities like shelters, picnic areas with grills, camping, boating, fishing, etc. If you want to use one of the larger shelters in case of rain just be sure to reserve it well ahead of time. Since I live here I will probably be going to the Benson Test & Tune. Does anyone know if the Adventureland gokarts are relatively *fun* or if they are more of the puttering around at jogging speed variety? If the former then I'll be there, if the latter then probably not. If you haven't already done so you might want to post this over at red pepper racing daht com as well.

Thats about the only park i saw near Raleigh, im sure they have others though. I honestly don't have any clue about the go-karts. Guess i could call and ask :D.

I haven't posted at redpepper, but its a good idea.

I live in Raleigh and am working on a first gen Accord that should be finished by then. It spent it's entire 33 years in Grand Canyon National Park. Owned a honda fanatic park ranger. Rust free great interior,faded paint. I have the interior out now prepping for paint. jeff

Updated Park Info!
Alright, we have decided on a park! We will be picnicking at William B. Umstead National Park in Raleigh. We will be reserving a shelter, just in case of rain or whatever else, enough for 50 people or so. I intend on getting a specific shelter, closer to our hotels, but it might not happen that way. We'll just play it by ear. Heres directions anyway:

For the shelter, Myself and another member have agreed to putting up $40 of the reservation fee, anyone or ones want to donate to the fund? If not, not a big deal.

awesome thats great to hear buddy! Umstead a pretty nice park? All i can really gather is that its a state park lol... Also, ever been to adventure landing? They won't really answer me about what kinda go-karts they have.

Umstead Park is a large wooded park with hiking trails. It is beside Lake Crabtree park which has several miles of mountain bike trails.
There is a good indoor karting track in Garner nc about 15 miles from Umstead. Fast karts. rushhourkarting.com
It is karting only. Adventure Landing has other activities. Jeff

I would be happy to help w/ the logistics of this event. I also live in Raleigh, NC.

Also, I HIGHLY suggest you scrap Adventureland & go to Frankie's Fun Park. It's like staying at Knight's Inn compared to Caesar's Palace!! That & Frankie's has a MUCH better parking lot for any amount of cars.

Umstead is a good choice. Lots of room to park & move around to include VERY EASY accessibility.

Good choice of night spots: Go to Glenwood South. If you wanted, you could talk to Charlie Goodnight's & see if you could get a group rate for the comedy show that evening.

I see where he is coming from on the package for Adventure Landing. I agree w/ him on the quantity for the price since this will be a 3 day event.

As far as the level of karting around here:

Rushhourkarting.com for wow! BUT - pricey. Check their website for prices.
Frankie's Fun Park for the next level of karting
Adventure Landing is the economy of the lot, but still fun

The package that Adam has for Adventure Landing should work great! You can go back & forth from Karting/laser tag all night & throw in a round of putt putt when you can.

After reading the itinerary again, Adam has put together a nice weekend for you all.

For going out, try HiFive on Friday night on Glenwood Rd. Free before 10 pm. $10 after. You could eat dinner there & hang out until you're done. All food on the menu = $5 They have a wide variety of beers.

For Saturday, you could go to the Cree parking deck by the Raleigh convention center for photo opportunities.

Umstead is an excellent park that is centralized for easy access. Good choice of park!

Thanks for the outing suggestions Pete! Yea i thought about the karting stuff. I never saw frankies honestly, but rushhourkarting was my first choice. Their group pricing was just astronomical though, so i settled on adventure landing
