Why is it hard to shift in my Civic Si (EH3) ?
I have a short shifter and I really hate how its hard to shift. Say Im shifting from 3rd to 4th, it like snaps to neutral and then goes into 4th, its not 1 smooth action. It sort of hits a bump b4 engaging the gear which I think is normal but every other car I've driven has a smooth shift but I have to use a little bit of force to get the gear in. Its really annoying though.
I have just changed this bushing and it didnt do anything, the shifter is lubed up and everything
The one inside that extension that the wrench is on.
What can I do to get a normal shift? Is it the shifter itself or the bushing or something else? I have no clue but its super annoying!

maybe its hitting your exhaust..short throw shifters have a longer piece below that pivot ball..and sometimes they hit the exhaust..check it out

Its not the xhaust, I just replaced the bushing yesterday, its not hard to shift as in its hitting something, its just not smooth.

That bushing does nothing, its a waste of time.
Get rid of the short shifter, thatll fix your problems. My brother has a short shifter in his DC4 and it super hard to get into gear.

maybe you bent a shift fork trying to shift so fast... or could be a bent shift linkage and it rubs agianst itself. my friend has this problem when he shifts from 3/4 and while in neutral going side to side has a hard spot.

I'll do that!
I believe its working right. I'm pretty sure it is, thats something you could tell, the clutch works like it should so I'll rule this cause out.
Yup, I'll do that.
Yeah I think its the shifter itself, def going skunk2 if thats the case. Whats a shifter stabilizer and what is this purple piece here?
On neutral theres a hard spot on the left and on the right but its every gear that needs force to get into. Reverse can be a pain sometimes.
Thanks so far guys.

wow people even posted up clutch pedal ****.
lol mountain out of mole-hill much?
either the bolt connecting the shifter to the engagement linkage are too tight, or op just isnt used to a short shifter.

why change the fluid and adjust the clutch pedal..?? im pretty sure he wasnt having this problem when he had his stock shifter on there.. so that being said.. its the shifter itself.....

if your clutch pedal is adjusted too tight, it will slip the clutch.
if its too loose the clutch will not fully engage and make it hard to shift

maybe you guys should look at one of these things as a failure. speedfactory makes it.

although.. it is possible lol. i've seen so many ricer-thrashed trannys nothing surprises me any more.
yes.
just make sure you have a locking nut.. otherwise it'll virbrate and fall off.
you sure its not just the feel of the short *******? most of them are grossly short and provide no leverage for smooth shifting.

not only is it hard for me to shift in gear, but i have shifter play while my shifter is in gear, does that mean i need new bushings?

Re: Why is it hard to shift in my Civic Si (EH3) ?
Nop but I think it's the shifter itself. It has play when it's in gear so thats a bushing
problem. I have a circuit heroshifter extender and it's still hard but bot as much. I need a new shifter.

If you want to try an oem EH3 shifter, let me know.
I took it out when I did the B16 swap into my car, I currently have a Skunk2 short shifter for a B series and I hate it, it also binds and doesn't give me smooth shifts. I am going back to an oem b series shifter.
