Re: engine spins freely
I didn't use the clutch alignment tool, didn't know about it till today.
I put the flywheel on, bolted it down, then put the clutch on and bolted that down. Tranny went in without much trouble. You think it's because I didn't use the tool?

Yeah pressure plate is on.
1991 civic d series cable tranny here. The clutch disk, if installed right, the side that protrudes more, what does it face, the flywheel or pressure plate? I installed it facing the pressure plate, wonder if that's reversed...

In case someone does happen to use the 'search' - I know, it'll be a cold day in hell - they can possibly see your question, and what caused it. Don't leave someone actually taking the time to search hanging with an un-updated thread.

Re: engine spins freely
I didn't forget anything. My friend said when I put the tranny together the first time the shaft might have been hitting the flywheel or PP or something, idk. But I took it apart, put it together same way as the first time (without clutch tool just center the clutch real good with the motor on its side) and then bolted it together. Works from what i can tell, haven't driven the car yet because I need a new rad

Re: engine spins freely
if you didnt hit the hole it wouldnt of bolted together........
...fyi..... you can use a 1/2 drive socket with a 3/8 drive extension through the center as a clutch alignment tool....its a little sloppy, but it works better than eye balling it unless your engine is out of the car and it works like a charm
