DC wiper and antenna delete plug...Just cheaper!
Soo, I was wandering around Home Depot this morning to pick up some hardware for an addition when i remembered a cool idea I came across a while ago and decided to figure it out for myself. It's winter afterall and I had nothing to do so dont bash me please I wanted to purchase an antenna delete plug b/c my antenna has been stuck up for a couple weeks since i bought the new daily (DC2) and i purchased a internal antenna but i didn't want to have to pay $15 for a piece of rubber so now comes alternatives! I found self locking nylon hole plugs for around 32 cents each in the hardware section of HD, compared to $15 for each plug from ICB, etc...Sadly they only came in white so i used oem black trim paint and they turned out better than expected. sorry for the very dirty phone pics/lack of wheels etc. due to lame winter
I purchased a 7/8" plug for the antenna hole and a 1 3/16" plug for the rear wiper plug. Cost 82 cents for both. I picked up the dupli-color trim paint at a local auto parts store for $5, they ran out of SEM but still worked out perfectly
I wanted to be able to seal the antenna plug to prevent leaks so after removing the antenna i was able to retain the small rubber seal and the plug fit into it like a charm. The plug is now painted black on the right and seal on the left
Before Plug: Antenna stuck up
This is how the plug sits in the antenna hole, perfectly snug and isn't coming out anytime soon, checked for leaks after and zero were found. After:
Rear wiper before:
After: Painted and fitment was perfecto
A tiny better view, too dang cold to go outside for pics
Overall i'm completely satisfied with how it looks and how it fits, to me there was no point in spending $30-$40 on a couple plugs so i had fun with it and I enjoy not staring at that gastly antenna Just thought i'd share and save maybe a couple people some scrilla, Thanks for checkin it out!

i also thought about the same idea but was wondering, would the nylon plugs be brittle over time? that question stopped me at the tracks. can anyone chime in?

I thought the same thing but after a short amount of research i was able to find that nylon plugs/nylon itself is much softer than plastics therefore being much less brittle and susceptible to cracking...plus if it indeed proves wrong and cracks, well then just grab a couple quarters and take a few minutes to replace it

Wow that's good i'll most likely stick to a few dimes but thats a great deal, how'd you get it for a couple of bucks? A few of the honda dealers around here want around $10-20

Got one similar to this from a friend a few months back and I mounted it in my trunk, he had it wired to have a female connection that the existing radio antenna plug could plug into it, oddly enough i get great reception..not perfect but fine for me

Looks good dude. I have been wanting to do the same thing to my Teg but just have not got around to it. I was wondering though, do you have any problems with leaking?

Thanks man, no problems with leaking and it rained all day today and still no leak. On the rear window plug it would probably be good to use some type of sealant. U took it out today and put a small amount of window sealant on it and that worked great

good stuff. I need to do this to my rear wiper too. I currently have black electric tape covering the hole. sad.
on another note, what did you use to seal the rear wiper plug? Ive heard of some people having them pop out because of subwoofers.

I have a rear wiper delete kit if anyone is interested if I can figure out how to get it off.

Re: DC wiper and antenna delete plug...Just cheaper!
i just forked out and got the honda rear wiper delet plug, just to ensure fitment, doesn't leak, my antenna was stuck up to, so i yanked motor and just let the actual antenna shaft go down, but i would like to delet that as well without it looking takky.. i have always had xm so i never listen to radio anyways.
