Engine Code - P0131 - Oxygen Sensor
Hi all,
Has anyone received this code on their car before? I just received the code...the definition looks to be (Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Low Voltage).
I'm obviously assuming this is the o2 near the header? I have a 00 sir.
What are the usual causes of this error? Bad wiring? Bad sensor? What would be the list of the things to first check and replace? I heard aftermarket O2's are not good for Hondas..what's recommended?
Thanks much

Well since its a 2000 civic there is two 02 senors. One up front on the exhaust manifold somewhere and the other is near or on the cat. If you have a p0131 you need to replace the front oxygen sensor. I used to be a tech for honda and there is no way to fix it you just have to replace it. I know a good website for cheap parts. www.cheapautoparts.com

Thanks. Have you ever witnessed this code being something othe than the sensor? Should I buy a labscope to examine this further or don't bother?
Thanks again

I had a 99 em1 that was throwing that code also. I replaced the sensor and was still throwing code. I swap out the ecu for another one and the problem was fixed. I would try swaping sensor first and if that dosen't work maybe you can ask a friend if you can swap ecus and see if that fixes it.
