That's ugly... damn.
Never understood why people like to slam cars. Doesn't look that great IMO. Lowering the car a few inches looks great, and keeps everything functional, but don't go nuts people.

swap or not... that's still a really lame reason to blow up a what could've been a perfectly good motor... i've found from friends experince's the more you "slam" your car the more you spend trying to keep it slammed.... my friend's had to replace his coilovers/struts and he rolled his fenders cuz its slammed, and annother friend has an ek coupe and he wore holes in his inner fender walls.... and ripped off his exhaust...

I hope that picture isn't with it "slammed" because I've driven cars a lot lower than that and never hit the oil pan on anything. My wife has never hit her car on anything in 4 years and it's lower than that with a kit hehe.

no that is not a pic of it slammed... it was alot lower..thats what i put it at with the new struts and coil overs... the roads here in north bay ontario... are so bad...
yea i had to get my exhaust welded a few times aswell as roll the fenders
that prob wasent the only reason that my engine blew .. when i took off the valve cover the oil was all white on the exhaust side aswell as the oil pan...

so the head gasket blew causeing the oil to become white? not because the oil pick up and driving slammed?

Yeah, and this whole thread is bordering on stupid with no tech.....
people who dump their ride are just about stupid in my book....
lowering moderately to increase performance and looks is just fine....
But slammage is bone [freak]ing stupid.

Re: (reznunt)
I think we all know that slamming is bad, but slammed cars just look so hot.
(and anyway, wouldn't installing a "bash plate" underneath fix the problem?)

Shame...the car looks very nice too!
My car isn't slammed but there's a couple of other great reasons not to slam your car. But then again, this would differ between people who are for looks and those that are for function.

This is a common problem on SR20's. If you ever buy an engine from a Japanese importer, check out the pan before startup. Most of the time it can just be bent back out and still run just fine.

Re: (shaggyeg6si)
I have another good reason. These are the tires I just took off my Rex (it was lowered with cut springs that didn't even fill the strut perches when I jacked it up):

thats why when you lower it you get an alignment and/or camber kits if you have too, so that your tires won't become like that.

Re: (89hatcher)
my cars lower than the one in the pix (i understand that your car was lower than the pix now) i have 195/50/15 and i have a LSV..with itr 4-1 headers which hangs low..i havent encountered anything like what you did. but!! when my car was lower than now..i did ripped my oil pan on a railroad tracks that happened to came out of nowhere. i have no camber kit at all and i dont recall getting any camber wear to my tires..
i have tons of friends that ride stupid dumped and they have not done any damage. either that was cause of stupidity driving (not saying you are) or you ran some fat **** over..

Around here, just pulling off the street will do that to a lowered car. The SFBay area is horrid about putting huge dips at the end of everybody's driveway. I assume it's for drainage, but come ON...
I'll get some pictures of how bad it is. I'm just saying that's entirely believable for everyday driving. You should see my 240z, the oil pan on that is destroyed like a cheerleader on prom night.
