My paint is flawless and his rubber all over it all the time. You can rub vaselene (sp?) on the fenders if you want to keep the rubber from sticking.

Expltcitspeed sells d series alternator brackets for both applications, with or with out the balance shaft assembly. If you just took out the belt, you would just get the OEM style bracket.

I need some driving impressions everybody! I have a 93 hatch w/ b16a and a y21 tranny at the moment. I need more power though and am not wanting to boost. I have been researching the h2b for awhile but I dont get the problems with the alternator. I understand the webbing on the back of the block however.
I want some driving impressions. Anybody using this in a dd car? Hows the power? Ive never driven a h22 before, and I think im going to love the torque and power.

The position of the motor with the b series mounts puts the motor so far forward, you need to bring the alt closer to the block..so it'll clear the headlight

That is NOT the reason. Frame rail to alternator clearance is needed therefore running a SOHC alternator that utilizes a 3 rib belt would give you the needed clearance.

Couldnt you just run a 3 rib belt on the H alt?

yes, but the prelude still a 5 rib alternator pulley that is too wide. If it's possible to swap a SOHC alt pulley on the H22 alt that should give enough clearance.....

K, so its not just the belt that needs clearance but the pully as well. Should be easy enough to aquire a SOHC alt.

yeah, it's the pulley, but the belt is close too. The explicit kit was too easy to buy and install to play with anyhting else IMO.

nice, put the suspension on and you can get it on the ground
PS-You don't need the alternator for a quick spin around the block open header

I guess I did not realize that the alternator is on the front of the h22, interesting. Also, these balancer shafts, are they required to be removed? Or is it optional? Wouldnt this throw off the balance of the engine in general and possibly hurt things?
I am starting to buy things for the swap soon I believe. Is my list correct?
H22A(Can get longblock for $1295 shipped!)
H2B Kit
Aftermarket B series clutch/flywheel/pressure plate
The h2b relocation deal from explicit
What else exaclty? Ive already got my b tranny/axles/ecu. What ecu are you guys running in a eg hatch? Would a p30 work or is a p28 preferred?
