For high compression and high rpm.
Best is synthetic blend or synthetic royal purple. The best oil for a b16, b18c, d16z6: Quaker State High RPM Oil 20W50 Boom releases all RPMS, my brother has a 95 EX vtec which we had tested many oils with, not one came close to quaker state rpm not even royal purple. Ratings of best synthetic oil: Royal Purple runs like quake state but at high rpms less over heating than quaker state. Mobile Castrol is junk and lost 2000 rpms with it Ratings of best synthetic blend oil: Quaker State High RPM Oil- Best of the Best cost half the price of Royal Purple. Problem is hard to find on the self. Castrol last obviously Ratings of best non synthetic oil: GTX, runs bad in hondas not recommended. None, all bad. Trust me on the Ouaker State RPM Oil, and he used a K/N Oil Filter. I would trust stock honda filter but I don't count on it being better performance cleaner than K/N. Fram is worse, because we put that in with the good and cheaper oils and it ran like something was jamed up. I heard Fram use cardboard in their filters, just a roomer I heard. castrol syntec 0w-30 is thicker in viscosity than mobil1 5w-30 and 10w-30 at 100C and 40C yet it is a 0w oil. it is also an ACEA A3 oil with an HTHS of 3.6. only boutique oils such as amsoil, redline, motul can compete with this off the shelf oil.
and i am currently at 10,000 miles since my last oil change. |

I have a question. How can you go 10,000 miles w/out an oil change since the oil filter change will be past due? Do you have a remote oil filter?

who says the oil filter is past due at a certain mileage. as long as you do an used oil analysis and the numbers look good then its okay to go 10k miles.

I generally use Mobil 1 filters cuz K&N are harder to come by. But I change the filter according to the manufacturers recommendations.
"who says the oil filter is past due at a certain mileage. as long as you do an used oil analysis and the numbers look good then its okay to go 10k miles." Hmm, I don't know. I'd still feel pretty uncomfortable doing this. If the oil filter is clogged then I'm relying on it's bypass. Maybe you can persuade me otherwise. Besides, I've only sent my oil out once. I can't justify sending it out on every oil change.

The issue here is the holding capacity of the filter before it fills up with contaminates. Modified by Buzzbomb at 8:57 AM 9/7/2006
