Re: SLAMMED... Suspension Setups.
He did have huge holes where the OEM uca's stuck up about a inch into the bay.
Are you shock towers dented?

Re: SLAMMED... Suspension Setups.
My lca made my exhaust flat hahaha
Nope no dents the uca wont hit the shock tower unless I hit a bump on the road hard other then that they won't hit suspension is nice and stiff

Re: SLAMMED... Suspension Setups.
Wow, my buddy with 650F couldn't hit the slightest bump without hearing them bang into the shock towers.
He now has a bent left knuckle, with gaint holes in the shock towers, If i had my camera card I'd post pic's.

Re: SLAMMED... Suspension Setups.
No cracks on the shock tower and your lower than I am?? Here are my modified shock towers on my Em-1. The only way people get away with having no cracks is running both high spring rates, and stiff valving with the stock UCA. My cracks started to form after I installed my Skunk2 original front camber kit. It was making small cracks that kinda look like small dimples. To make sure I don't have any cracks in the future since the engine bay is being redone we took the time to modifiy the shock towers to give me more clearance with a camber kit or no camber kit. We cut out the shock towers and made our own metal housing which was then welded on. I don't recommend a front camber kit unless you need the adjustment like I do to get more negative camber. The other reason I chose to do this was the extra clearance lets me run spring rates as well as valving that is more street friendly. My car rides great for how low I am, but as someone stated what low is back then isn't quite low enough today. I still give a crap about how my car looks like underneath as well as how it rides.
I run a full 3 inch exhaust, and my rear lower control arms do sometimes hit my aftermarket LCA's on occasion.
Before
After
Cut out to see the UCA Location and Range As you can see it is pretty much inevitable.
Dent- Stock UCA-this is the type of dent/cracks it makes when running factory UCA
Dent-After market Camber Kit-Skunk2, Buddy Club, Ksport, that style usually forms dimple cracks above from the corners of the square boxed ends they have.
Do not get the impression just because you run the factory UCA you will not crack the shock towers. Everyone will have dents or cracks to a certail degree when lowering. The number 1 culprit is because of how low the car is period. In order to decrease or prevent it from happening as much as possible you really need to run higher spring rates, with stiff valving especially with a unmodified shock tower. I have racers who run spring rates of 950lbs up front and there UCA still hits the shock towers on occasion at the track. I have also seen cars that are not lowered form small cracks up there on occasion as well..those are rare though. If your going to ride low, do it right. It's a shame when I go to a car show and see cracked shock towers. When I was judging car shows that was certainly a point deduction. You have a great stance, all these mods, fresh paint, yet you can't fix your shock towers??

Re: SLAMMED... Suspension Setups.
That's beyond impossible. There's no such thing as "dumped" and smooth. My car would only be considered "mildly" lowered and my ride isn't "smooth." And my spring rates are only 350lbs/Front and 350lbs/Rear. My ride isn't "rough" but I certainly notice every bump in the road. However I've still got plenty of suspension travel.
Godspeed coilovers, from what I understand, have very unusual rates of 12k/6k which amounts to 674lbs/front and 337lbs/rear.
The rates that accompany a dumped ride, not to mention the reduced suspension travel does not equate to what any normal person would call a "smooth" ride.
Just because you can tolerate it doesn't mean it's "smooth." You've not pulling wool over anyones eyes claiming that your impractical ride height feels anything close to "smooth."

Damn that's intense. Yea I nvr used to rub that til now. I took a pic today. I don't think I can upload it from my phone. but I've heard about that. Thought about doin it. I need some lower profile tires if I wanna lower it again. I'll try to post up pics tomorrow.

Re: SLAMMED... Suspension Setups.
just make little cuts like 2" apart from each other all the way down the weld them just beat it with a heavy hammer till it gets flat
then u can go lower
i went lower on my hatch a little while ago

Re: SLAMMED... Suspension Setups.
Alright yeah I think I'll try that. Cuz I wana lower it back down but the rubbing wasn't worth it. Just didn't wanna cut my tire. Should be a good project since I'm off the next 2 days. U don't rub the fenders when u turn?

Re: SLAMMED... Suspension Setups.
there u go man u got ur self a project 2 do
im currently doing a wire tuck and polishing anything i can polish under the hood like a/c etc etc etc
and nope i dont rub when i turn i got a lot of room between my fenders and tires (stock camber)

Re: SLAMMED... Suspension Setups.
Yeah I used to only rub when turning excessively which was never but now turnin the slightest bit it rubs. But I'm tuckin a lot of tire and got the stock size tires too.
