Nice Build!
I used to own a 88 Starion back in the day but the car was a nightmare. I didn't have the patience to repair all of the problems since it was my DD which is damn near impossible with these cars. I had a black one just like the one you had and it ran strong but the electrical problems were none stop let alone the mechanical issues that you are experiencing also.
I'm going to watch this one unfold. I still lust after these cars but after watching you replace damn near everything I kinda think twice about it...lol.

any suggestions on how to get this nut loose? the black one?
it has some debris stuck near the threads and wont budge any directions. I have nothing to grip the strut with other than my hands, or it might damage the threads. tried heat and pbblaster.

Get a phillips screw driver, or small ish pin drive and hit the end with a hammer. It should have enough force to spin it through. Had to do this with my old coil-overs.

Some updates:
Car is being stored for the winter, I took out the diff for a backlash adjust, gave it to my friend who has the tools to do it. Will also be replacing the diff seals and bearings. Also new U Joints.
Bought two new front mind fenders, need to get them rolled so I can fit spacers. Having issue with my coilovers, cant break the height adjust nut so I cant fit the fender roller. Lame.
Cant really do anything till warmer weather, no heater in the garage and no motivation to really do anything right now.
Back in after my final drive of the year
Up goes the rear and out goes my diff and halfshafts
Current shaft, rented U Joint remover tool, a must have
Messy work bench
New u joint cap
The joint
New shaft, my current has welded endcaps so I cant do anything with it.
A PITA to remove
1th of the way done
admiring my exhaust
Cant wait to see how this will work out
Radio from a Galant, plug in play
Old
New radio is larger and has a amp, needed to remove the shifter so I can size things up easier
Back in sans shifter
Cold winter day

For how cheap you can get these cars......I would not have taken on a project with that much rust/issues.
Go to a rust free state and pick something up then build it.
Good luck with the build cool cars.

My newest edition to the car.
Euro spec 83 tails. /sploosh
As far as rust and price, you can get a decent one between $2-4k depending on work done to it. Rust wise, mine aint bad, needs new rear fenders, requires cutting and welding but with the amount of dents on the car this is not much more work since its all needs to be filled

Re: My 1998 Chrysler Conquest TSI build progress. 5mbps +
Update:
So I sold my Civic, bought an 1988 Celica All-Trac. Now I have two group rally b homologated cars.
Celica been a PITA, accidently bought another project car instead of a daily.
rare 80's four wheel drive turbo? Five speed!? sounds like a perfect daily! And it has pop up headlights? SOLD!
Conquest, down for an engine rebuild. Ate main bearings, got a new block, its almost assembled, just dont have the motivation to really put it all back in. Plus, its way too cold right now.

Re: My 1998 Chrysler Conquest TSI build progress. 5mbps +
Had one of these in high school. Always thought it was awesome a car from 1988 had digital climate control.
One day while driving it suddenly died. I tried everything to get it running again, narrowed it down to the ECU or some other electrical demon. This was 12+ years ago, I've learned alot since so in all likelihood I would of solved it and fixed it. Not really sure where the car ended up we sold it to a friend of a friend and I never saw the car or the guy again.
Met a local guy that has 2 fairly well modified conquests, actually one is a Starion (same thing more or less). He claimed one was a high 10 second car.... he had made a manifold and put a larger turbo on it, I don't doubt it was quick though I never saw a slip or saw the car race in person. It sounded good lol....
Cool build, keep it going man.
