Re: mid engine ef2
I absolutely freaking love this.
I admire your bravery to just jump right in and get it done, learning as you go. a lot of skilled fabricators here in the US probably couldn't even get this done this quick and it's a rather clean job as well.. Plus you are basically working in subzero temperatures as well.
The F20B is an awesome engine, I think it was the perfect choice for this project

Re: mid engine ef2
after some delay i solved all other problems and today went back to the garage.
this evening made the exhaust. the silencer is factory from mazda rx8. other components are factory from jdm accord euro-r.
i think sometime this exhaust will be in "worst fabrication pictures" thread

Re: mid engine ef2
thanks! it is not very beautiful but it is my hobby and i try to do everything by my hands.
bellmouthes will be on all bodies. i want to make a box of an aluminium sheet with air input throught two toyota celica gt-four's air filters. the box will be bolted to ITB flanges and bellmouthes will be inside it. i'm going to start making it in today's evening, so i hope i will post some photos of it today.

Re: mid engine ef2
began to make intake reciever. at first i want to make functional mockup with riveted seams. then i will make final version with welding.
I accurately measured motor bay and made pattern from aluminium sheet.
then i bent it into box
narrow side will be bolted to itb flanges, and bellmouthes will be in this box.
filters will be placed in open side on frame of aluminium square pipes. here only one filter, but it will be two.

Re: mid engine ef2
last two weeks i was on vacation, so the work was stopped.
this weekend i cutted the ITB intake manifold into two parts because it was welded with wrong angle for this setup. the first idea was to make notch and bend manifold to right angle.
intake manifold before
and cutted
but i was failed. the manifold fell apart and it was needed to make one more flange from another F20B original intake manifold.
now the manifold is waiting to be welded from two parts.
meanwhile i started to assemble the interior and other parts. installed wheels and steering column, installed seats.

Re: mid engine ef2
i was done all which were needed to run the car and yesterday tested car on road
the first garage exit
and first test drive
sorry for russian
the brakes are very bad. they are 240mm non ventilated. i want to upgrate them to front accord calipers with ventilated 280mm brake disks. the power steering is not needed. the steering wheel is easy to rotate because of lightweight front part of the car.
now the car is in body workshop where i am going to make engine cover and something like roll cage on the rear part of car.

Yes! Glad to see this build is still going. Get it running them work on the cleaning up and such.
I love your English very much. I read it in a very Russian accent in my head. It make for good entertainment. I do love this build. Very back yard mechanic. It's got a nice feel to it.

Re: mid engine ef2
so. the car seems to be almost finished.
the frame of engine bay cover
left and right sides made of steel, also added steel pipes to the central body pillar
all were applied the priming coat and painted.
front and upper covers were made of alimunium-magnesium alloy with rubber weatherstrips.
this cover is going to be covered with some antinoise material.
the car is runned for about a week and i use it as everyday car
further plans are to repair body, change engine to h23a with pde head, upgrade brakes and front suspension, install of racing seats.
the behaviour of rear suspension is great. it works right as i want. and i was very impressed by grip of rwd mid engine car in acceleration.

Re: mid engine ef2
upgraded front brakes today.
the brake disks are from honda orthia (something like civic wagon in jdm). the disks diameter is 260mm. the calipers are from 280mm brakes from jdm accord CF4.
all were fitted without any modifications.
the comparison of old and new brakes.

Re: mid engine ef2
weighted the car today. the curb weight is 1100 kg or 2425 lbs. the car is quite heavy, but my ek with f20b dohc is 220 lbs heavier.
the weight distribution F:R is 42:58, but i don't know it is good or bad for mid engine car.
i will be glad if anyone describe it to me.
