Would you buy NEW NSX?

Re: Would you buy NEW NSX?
It doesn't look like it inherited much NSX DNA at all on the outside. The silhouette doesn't look long and low like the original. I remember when it first showed up in magazines for reviews all the way back in 1990 and I remember that low sleek profile well. The new car looks bulky and the styling is way overdone especially on the front.
They could call it anything else and it'd be fine, just don't call it an NSX. Especially when it looks like an Audi with Acura badges and it's built and designed in Ohio.

Re: Would you buy NEW NSX?
As an Acura employee I have a biased opinion about the NSX. But please understand that the vehicle is still in concept. Don't think of the electric motors as "hybrid" think of them as an acceleration assistance. The electric motors that will be in the NSX will be able to produce an additional 150-175 ft/lbs of torque as soon as the throttle pedal is pressed to assist the 3.7L Vtec V6 engine, producing around 380-400 hp and over 300 ft/lbs of torque, in the inital movement of the car. The electric drive system will also give assistance in the corners with a selective drive system that transfer power from front wheel to wheel depending on situation.
The Automatic transmission is geared to ease of use. I agree with the fact that there should be a manual option for those die hard fans. The transmission will have a great daily drive aspects in regular driving and in spirited driving the driver will have the use, as most of the Acura models do, of the shifter paddles. When the transmission is placed in the "sport" mode the driver will use the paddle shifters to change gear as though in a higher end supercar.
With this information I would imagine that the car that is built for a wealthy mid to late 30-40's client will fair really well. With time the aftermarket and the clients that are geared toward the racing side of the NSX breed will find that there is mounds of potential in this platform. This will be accelerated if Acura plans on placing the new NSX in a racing program.

Honestly I would be looking at a used GT3 instead of the new NSX for a weekend car. I would rock the new NSX for a DD/beater though.

Re: Would you buy NEW NSX?
It is sad to listen to all of the stupidity on this thread. First off, maybe 2 people on this thread would be able to afford this car when it comes out anyway. The rest who are saying things like, '..I would not take it if you gave it to me...,' and drive 20 year old Civics are just haters. The target market for the new NSX (for the most part) is not on honda-tech anyway.
Second, ripping on a car's performance when it has not even had development finished is just ridiculous. Wait until a finished car is done before you start talking smack about what can and cannot be done. Honda is perfectly capable of making a 400hp car out of a V6 hybrid powerplant if they want to. They have the resources and the engineering skill to do it. Having friends in the Honda R&D Department has helped me get an inside track on this car, and I can promise you that many of you will be eating your words when it is done. So before running your mouths, wait and see what happens when the car is introduced in final form.

People are so lame when it comes to change. It doesnt matter if the subject you are talking about music, a new movie, new clothing design, or a new employee at your job, there are always those people that think improvements on an old design will ruin their concept of the world. I did my dissertation at UCLA back in 2003 on this behavior, and to sum up my research, i found out that a combination of ignorance, fear, jealousy, fallacies in logic... ect. all play a part in clouding some people rationalization.
I remember back in 1992 and 1993 when everyone thought the next gen Integra was going to ruin Acura. I remember when the Third gen RX-7 made all the second gen owners jealous. I remembered when the new charger pissed all of the old school guys off. I remember when the iPhone 4 pissed the iPhone 3gs guys off. When windows 7 pissed off vista owners. When facebook pissed off myspace people. PS3 owners hate Xbox 360 owners, and PC gamers hate console gamers.
It's all a petty debate based on subject preferences and personal biases. The New NSX is pretty damn sexy, i would love to own one. I think i read someone wouldnt want one if given to them for free? Umm ok go get your head checked and take a chill pill. hah.
And for all of you that are trying to make the argument that no one would buy it because (insert you technical specs here) of (insert this car here) will be better priced, and such and such car offer blah blah blah. It doesn't matter. Some people will like a car for all the exact reason you will hate a car and vice versa. Open up your eyes guys. The car is what it is. Hate on it, love it, doesnt make a difference. lulz.

Re: Would you buy NEW NSX?
I just wanted to say that Honda Autotragic transmissions SUCK that car will have twice as many recalls as the 00-03 Acura cl and tl incuding type s versions mak a NSX manual all wheel drive like the 2012 tl sh at least! And think about it who in their right minds will daily drive a nsx? They barely drive the old ones what makes you think somebody will daily drive this one. People with the new GTR don't even daily drive it. Be serious it is called a SUPERCAR for a reason!

Re: Would you buy NEW NSX?
Owner of the 1995 NSX here. Honestly... in much more cases, everything new looks better than the old (that's a fact), but I will never trade mine for this, the new model. Maybe if I got extra $$$ I will buy it as a spare.
