Re: Anyone like the cafe? (78 CB550)
It has been another year now. For anyone that's curious, I've made some more changes to the bike, mainly hid the battery and small amount of electronics to eliminate the side pannels. I'll be cutting off the passenger pegs and frame tangs over the winter, and I am in the process of getting together rearsets (I'd be more than happy to receive donations if anyone has spare parts :p)

Hey, nice ride! And in my neighborhood. I had a few Honda CB750's and can appreciate those bikes.
I just joined this forumn because I'm looking for an enthusiastic mechanic on Long Island to do some basic work on my 1987 Civic hatchback; could you recommend someone that knows these cars?

Re: Anyone like the cafe? (78 CB550)
Almost another year again, I figure I'd update with more progress on the cafe. I have finally installed a set of clip-ons and pieced together rearsets. The rearsets required me to remove the turn-out exhaust, so I am now running open headers with custom made in-pipe silencers. I have also recently fitted a set of aftermarket shocks which raised the rear by 1/2", put in a new modern reflector headlight, lowered the instrument cluster and headlight mount.
The bike is more uncomfortable than ever to ride, but I love it. Next on the list would be to rejet the bike and fit a modern front-end (thinking R6 or gsxr). A new front end would be ridiculous. I'll need to figure out a wheel/brake/tire/controls/fender combo. Pro-style photos to come:

Great project man, whenever I see cafe' threads I always wonder what I'm going to see inside but that's truely an awesome piece man. I've been interested in cafe's for quite some time now but my project has been pushed aside a bit. Bout to get started with it again.
So what rear sets did you end up installing?

I've been thinking about it for a while and just started looking for a GSXR or R6 complete front end swap (Triple, controls, wheel, tire, brakes). If anyone has something in NY for a good price, I'm all ears!
